Is it FOSS? Does it run on GNU/Linux? How does the program work? Does it need a continuous connection to the CNC device?
I paid 200 euro for a CNC kit less than a year ago and it's sitting here unused because it doesn't have working limit switches, never remembers its origins, loves to push drill bits through the aluminium baseplate and doesn't carve straight enough. I don't want to throw over 1000 euro at such a device without being certain it'll be reliable.

Tbh this thing looks like a jack of all trades master of none kind of product that can do everything decently but not to the quality of a dedicated machine. couple that with the fact that most modern hobbyist CNC machines and printers work on similar control boards and software making them easy to upgrade and tweak The snap maker looks like it uses completely proprietary software and hardware making upgrades basically impossible.

When I think of a 3-in-1 machine, I'm expecting all the functions are available without reconfiguring the machine. This looks like an expensive toy that does not do a good job at its three functions. Don't get me wrong, it might perform adequately, but for that price point, three dedicated machines would perform better. The only advantage here is saving space.

Whaaaatt? its crap at the price point. At this price, you can get a prusa mini, which prints waaaaay better. And get a K40 lase, 40 watts compared to 0. 5 watts. And get a half decent CNC with a build are about 10 times bigger and a much more powerful spindle. This machine is for people who havent looked into the the (vastly better) alternatives

I'm digging the attention to detail by Snapmaker. There's something to be said about a company going after a market segment of customers comfortable with paying more for a higher quality fit and finish. I like inexpensive items, but at a certain point that just means the cost of quality control falls to the end user.

Would it be possible to make yet another video after using it for some months, let's say around xmas. I see many intro videos where the first impressions are good, but when using the object for some time, experiences are either less or better. I would really like to hear your opinion later on.

With laser cutters/engravers you usually need a fume extraction as this can product toxic/carcinogenic fumes and particles. Also, with such high powered lasers, a proper enclosure and goggles is something I'd highly recommend.
Is it compatible with prusa slicer / standard gcode?

Fantastic video. Ever since I saw the kickstarter for these I have been interested.
I wonder if the stepper drivers can be swapped out for Trinamic parts, and whether Slic3r can generate G-code for it so we can have finer control over the prints?

It _should_ be able to work in stone/concrete as well, right? I think the only thing is a little more juice and a little more powerful laser, right? If there are no such lasers, why not make it a product? I m sure most hacker spaces would love it.

Their webshop is horrible.
The spin to win button is covering the next photo button and the fake person x just bought y messages are annoying.
Fix it, Snapmaker!
