Did you forget, the Mandan were white skinned and spoke an archaic welsh dialect combined with native loan words. The natives of the north east had light brown, reddish, and even blond hair with skin far lighter therefore turning red in the summer then the darker natives farther to the west. I'm all for norse heritage and pride since I am of Norwegian descent but give credit where credit is due.

There's also evidence that Mansa Musa discovered modern day South America long before Columbus. They certainly left that way and never returned. It doesn't necessarily mean they made it, but I believe there's evidence in that area that suggests they made it. Who knows? All I know is Columbus Day needs to go.

This is an absolutely outstanding video. Many of my sources that I used to create my fictional world of Midgard in my works of high fantasy, are drawn from the same sources that you use. Keep it up. Maybe you would consider doing a video exclusively about the Volkrvandrung

Love your detail and content in this and in other episodes and I know this is an older vid, but Ive gotten whiplash so bad from the time jumps that Im stopping 2/3 through. Please consider a more consistent timeline or reduce the scope to create a more concise storytelling.

Another quick note - 'Norse man' and 'Viking' aren't necessarily interchangeable. 'Viking' wasn't a culture, or a people. It was an occupation, just as being a blacksmith, or a farmer, or a trader were occupations. The majority of Scandinavians weren't Vikings.

I'm confused, was Iceland the original homeland of the Vikings? Scandinavians countries were correct? Countries such as, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark? When Leif Erickson discovered North America was Iceland already an established Nordic colony?

Greenland was green. This was the Medieval Warm Period, much hotter than today. The Arctic was virtually free of ice. Seas were calmer. There were grape vines in Vinland.

Do you have somewhere that all of the maps you use are available?
I absolutely love historical maps with old names on them.

Am I to assume there was no such 'thing' as female Vikings - or were they staying 'at home ' just trying to survive.
