Haha, the Puritans left England because of religious persecution, and then they persecuted every other religion in America. Not to mention all the witch burnings they performed, many innocent people who were just accused of being a witch ( mostly because of rivalry or just plan ignorance) were burned alive or drowned. So who were the ones who were superstitious? Calvinist Protestant wack jobs!

There are a couple of religions today totally anti Christmas as well. A guy where my dad worked returned the card my mom had sent his family, dropping it on my dad's desk and rudely informing him they didn't celebrate that pagan festival. They also didn't allow their children to have birthdays, no Easter, you name it, they were just too damned holy for it.

Christmas was a 12 day event where
1. you got to hang around with your friends and family
2. Go singing and partying while ignoring rich people
3. Wear drag casually
4. Generally have a good time?
No wonder the puritans hated it, it sounds like the best holiday ever.

4: 25 it's hard to accept anything you state as factual when you make such obvious misrepresentations of history. Declaring and Winning Independence are two different events and times. if you can't afford researchers at least send your scripts to beta readers.

Pure Catholicism. Pure paganism. Not scripture at all. Christ's birth is not to be celebrated, as the gospel that saves us all from a life of sin, is repenting (change of attitude) and believing in His death, burial and resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15: 1, 4

OK. the Puritans did NOT go from England straight to the new world. They first traveled to the Netherlands where their religion was tolerated. but left because they could not adapt to the Dutch lifestyle.

4: 27 Correction/clarification: the US declared independence (and acted accordingly) in 1776, but didn't recognizably win it from Great Britain until 1783.

The Puritans in Massachussets in 1659 were actually following the English Puritans. Cromwell's government also made Christmas illegal.

You know how much fun Christmas would be if we all dressed like women and drank ourselves into a slumber.
