Remastered clips showing Los Angeles in the 1940s. First some scenes in the city and later at a port. Can you identify where exactly the original footage is from?

If you think about it, life isnt so different except for there was no internet or cell phones. Theres was probably less pollution because there was less people. They were healthier because the food wasnt full of chemicals. Technology hasnt advanced that much. They thought we would be flying cars by now lol.

Land before the FRUITS N NUTS the streets are so clean and people got dressed up just to go shopping. People had class and women didnt have Plastic Tits. The 40s and 50s women are scalding hot just pure no fake shit wish we had women like that now days?

Does not look much different. Garbage on ground people walk by and do not pic up, broken down infrastructure, now some graffiti, just different skin and different style closes and automobiles is all.

Now I understand better why drivers in the US are so terrible. It seems to be historical issue: no turn signals, no respect to road markings, same speed in all lines. This video explains a lot.

i believe that the first scenes are on Figueroa and at 2: 47 you can see a diner called the Pantry which may have been the original location of the Pantry which is still at 9th and Figueroa

All of a sudden, all these -restored- videos are popping up on social media. Did a lot of people actually randomly film every day life for no apparent reason, or is this AI?

What a nice city - nice tidy & clean. However the streets look like a Daytona race track. If this were today, it looks like an ideal place to live. but something went wrong.

What amazes me the most is where all this footage of the 40's-60's is coming from? Someone just randomly filming out of the back of their car? It's wonderful and so memorable.

By the 1940s, the Bunker Hill neighborhood wasn't considered fashionable, yet I am struck by how livable and comfortable this -down and out- district appears around 1948.

These are mesmerizing. I feel like a kid look through the back window of the family car. Watch one before you go to bed and you'll dream about it. A real time machine.
reply

Judging by the cars we can see, these were the late forties, except for 1949, year in which the bodies changed into the real postwar cars, of which we see none.

Footage beginning at 4: 17 appears to be near the shipyards in San Pedro, or possibly Long Beach. Time period would be 44 or 45.

Are there any same videos going down black neighborhood. Westwood boulevard. Driving from l a x going east on century boulevard.
reply

4: 20 Those traffic police have plenty faith on the drivers considering the fact that cars have no sideview mirrors.

I love these videos, so relaxing to watch. Is there any information you can post that lets us know locations?

WOW! Except for the cars and the clothing styles, it could be today. Oh, you'd have to add bums and thugs, however.

Thanks for uploading this film!
To think my parents were walking around L. A. when this was filmed. Crazy!

I love videos like this, but the thought that everyone shown here is dead now makes me feel really sad.
