I know this isn't something people are expected to know, but come on. How is anyone gonna learn without giving them any intuition about it? It's maths! Not history! We're not learning names or digesting an entire dictionary, we're learning logic! Give us the logic! Or at least mention the logic if it's too complex to fit an actual explanation!

Excellent video. So engaging, so informing, so entertaining! The faces Matt pulls are so funny. In fact, I would put them in the -Flippin' hilarious! - category. And him printing the out the largest prime on 745 pages of paper (double sided) is just such a Matt thing to do. And it is not a waste of paper, he will take these volumes to talks, lectures, meetings, and people will look at them and wonder. On a quiet Sunday afternoon, he will probably put his favorite math's journal aside and flick through these volumes and smile. (Don't worry, I would as well.

Thank you for this very much for this video. The video shows that pi is approximately 22 / 7. This value is approximately 3. 14. Using the properties of this value we can compute prime numbers in sequence, which is based on the existing computing capability. The formula was an algorithm, that was developed by a well known mathematician. Using his formula and the method that I discovered, I can compute prime numbers in sequence using 22 / 7.

I am a person that not really know what a prime is or how it is used at all. But what about those amazing people with special abilitys that just know the answer when they hear any complex/big equations. Wouldnt they just be able to see a number and just tell if it is prime or not in a couple of seconds, that would be an interesting test if they could do that.

Does this primality test work for 3, which is the smallest Mersenne prime? Since 3 = 2-2-1, so n = 2 and therefore we should stop at the first term of the Lucas-Lehmer sequence which in this case would be 4 mod 3 = 1, which is nonzero.
Can anyone tell me if this primality test is defined starting from the number 7 only?

I have some research on number theory basically on finding prime number, also some equations which produce only prime which I think and is in modulo form, where I can submit that. My next question is where I can find till now discovered prime because I think there are ways to find prime number from previous prime number

If u ask me, and not the nutters who discluded 1 from being a prime, 1 is the best, most beautiful prime number. Always is and always was. And 2, the ugly duckling of the primes, is only a prime number, because it was lucky enough to be the closest number, to the prime of prime numbers, 1.

Towards the end, in the modulo sequence, -8: 24 you write commas to separate out thousands from units - e. g. 3, 470 as well as commas to separate sequences, and also I think it's 3472 not 3470. This confused me a bit until I worked out what had gone wrong.

How to beat the world recode for prime number.
Step 1: find a big prime number.
Step 2: if the number + 1 can be divide by only 2 or the factor only can divided by two then you can continue.
Step 3: exponential the number and - 1.
