Subtracting Paperclips Gergely: Okay so you can unlink two paperclips that were linked in a special way, but I would say if you call linking adding you didn't find the way to subtract until you can undo the configuration that is the result of linking/adding. Is this what you meant y work in progress?

I feel as though this could be turned into a Bart-Bonte style flash game. You are shown a configuration of paperclips and rubber bands, and you're supposed to arrange them in such a way that'll generate that configuration on the paper or something.

So, at what scale does this become too difficult to work with? it seems that you could actually do some decent addition just with paperclips in certain positions and with rubber bands to catch them. More videos please!

Now I want to try it with additional loops. The S shape could be doubled on the same length of paper, and additional clips. I have a feeling it'd just jam up (too many points of friction) but you never know!

i want him to explain me math like he explains this stuff. its pleasing.
i like his funny toys, but i also want to see a more numberphile video of him. where he explains cool numbers. or some nice math stuff.

does the addition method result in a link that is possible for subtraction? I would guess that orientation of the clips during addition might be important if they are to result in a subtractable pair

There's something I really love about people who have a strong foreign accent but speak perfect English. I think that's why I love listening to Tadashi, Zvezdelina, and Carlo.

Brady can you tell Tadashi to do some sort of podcast or asmr shit, I dont even care what he does tbh he could just mumble into a mic for 2 hours and I'd listen to it.

so we have a system that can add and subtract. and there is an or in there somewhere probably. I bet there is a way to make this into a paper calculator for small numbers
reply

Ahh, but is it actually the inverse operation of the paper-clip joiner? As in, is that link the same kind that is created by one of the joining operations?
