Here's how you stop negative self-talk. You say Screw norms. Who cares if you're normal or different. What's wrong with being different? What's wrong with _not_ being so-called normal. If we have to match standards to be both normal and noble, well, that's just wrong. I was jealous of everyone for years because of my insecurities and weaknesses. But then I made a New Year resolution to end it, because I realized something. I do not believe in society anymore.
I'm 27, still live at home, having never moved out. I have never had a girlfriend or a date, and I don't even have a driver's license. I have both a learning disability and ASD, and sometimes I say unfiltered things or act weird in social moments. I assume my ASD makes me less normal. I don't have too many friends now that I've graduated from college and most of my friends have left town. My coworkers all seem to fit in; I usually stand out. I used to feel like a misfit at work, but now I realize that it's not a big deal. It's just they're not my people, they're each other's only. If my ASD makes them not like me enough, that's their problem. Sure, I don't have a great filter, but it doesn't define me; nobody is perfect. I don't care if people find me weird or annoying. I don't care that my both my sisters have boyfriends and started dating at 16 while I've always been single. I don't care that I can't drive. I don't care that I appear dopey because of my learning disability. I don't care that I graduated high school at TWENTY. I don't care that I seem slow and helpless and do better with a guide than by myself (my boss basically said that to my face. I don't care that I still live with my mom. I don't care that I went to a small charter school than the superior public school that has many more activities, adventures, and organizations. I don't care about any of my weaknesses; I still have confidence in myself. It doesn't matter what others think of me, it's what I think of myself that matters. I will never fall for society's tricks again; society is buIIshit, and that would explain our government and political leaders. I say SCREW NORMS! I am absolutely fine the way I am, I say confidently. I am not a loser. A disabled man who doesn't match standards, yes, but not a loser.

As an extrovert traumatized into being an introvert, I've been struggling with crippling anxiety lately. I have hyperempathy, and growing up, I watched a lot of hatred, malice, and people I cared deeply for suffering around me. It became my life goal to make life better for them.
As a 30 year old artist now, there are so many ideas and dreams I wish to convey, things that my soul cries out to release and be known, because I want the world to be a better place. I want people to feel the joys in life that I have, to share and celebrate their wonderful experiences, to relish in the endless possibility of the pleasures of existence. I want others to see life is so beautiful and amazing. I want my art to convey that, to be proof of it, to give people a reason to keep going, or to be better to themselves. There's so much suffering in life, and I just want to make it better for people.
And yet, I can't convey even the tiniest fraction. Even what I have time for, after lonely days of working for so little because my traumas prevent me from holding a good job, is not ever even close to conveying even one pleasant thought or experience to its full potential. Because I am either incompetent, or so burdened by trauma that I can't -- or both. So I give up, or I just endlessly make pages and pages of unrefined doodles, trying to find an idea that sticks, trying to make one thing that captures that essence, trying to make one thing that makes others as happy as it makes me. I don't get good rest. I don't feel rested. I miss work, I skimp out on responsibilities, self care, socialization. Trying to have something worth presenting, worth being.
I'm just exhausted. I've been having ideations of suicide. My friends are already burdened with enough information, and therapy only does so much. If anything, when I talk openly about how trapped and incompetent I feel and why, it only reinforces the feelings.

I used to be too mean to myself even if it was not related to me. I remember those days that I used to look at myself with hate in the mirrors. I'm always aware of situation and know how to get better and not to act myself like this but it's always hard to do those things. I'm having flashbacks from my past but I'm learning how to deal with them and I'm not that mean to myself now and when I feel sad now I looked at mirror and tell myself what kind of situation that I'm in and explain what did I experienced in past and what is the healthy way of this. It's always make me feel calm after explaining everything than I tell myself I'm proud of how am I.
I'm going to be 16 this year and knowing the fact that I need to heal my own self because no one come and help me, it just hurts.
But if I need to tell something to who have read this far be proud of yourself no matter what. For this I would love to see what make you proud of yourself. I go first.
I'm proud of making an effort to read book
I'm not going to explain why but if you want to it's fine for me and I love to read it too. Never forget that you always worth living so be kind for yourself.

I often click on these videos and often times I find they fail to address the What If, I dont have any family or friends, or even a so called Healthy parent(s) and upbringing?
How am I supposed to talk to people if I do not know how to talk to people? I am filled with fear when I try. Through videos like this, I have learned that the type of upbringing I had, was not normal. I have seen videos on medical experiments where a baby is ignored right to their faces. the child starts to fidget, then wave hands around, then random screams, then a full on outburst. In the experiments, the parent continued to ignore, but in my case, it was beatings over and over, for years.
So an apparent normal reaction, was met with violence. To this day, I find it so annoying when I say something to someone and I get no reaction, I end up answering for them.
My inner critic tells me, I always fail, no matter how hard I try, so why bother. or my observations tell me that, everyone wants someone to talk to, but no one wants to listen.
What is supposed to be done with that. I dont want to die, but I wish I had never been born.
Oops, maybe I said too much.

Oof. That hit close to home. Especially the last few days my negative self talk was just so strong that it trew me in the pit again. I am on Sick leave for Burnout and depression for a few weeks now, while I wait for my treatment in a clinic to start. I was on my way up, but when I got my last sick-note, my physical clearly showed me that she didn't take me seriously and didn't believe It was really that bad. Since then I felt worse again, and cried a lot. I feel like a fraud, and weak. Now I have to face her again tomorrow to get another sick note, and it just makes my stomach turn. I talked to my mom about this yesterday, and my self talk was so harsh it made her cry. And I felt so sorry and bad for that. Things like Me as a human is aparently only worth as much as I am getting paid and I am such a failure, and I just feel wrong I don't know what to do with myself anymore.
Well. Thats when I really saw how much I hurt myself every day. And I don't want to hurt the people around me any longer. I need help. And until I get it, I need to stand up to my doctor, or get a new one.

3: 29 Thank you for your kind words! But I still need help, my brain keeps telling me that I can't do anything nobody loves me I'm cazy and I can't just stop it!
I'm a teen infj, at first when this used to happen I thought it's okay-normal (as it wasn't that much. -every people do think) but now it's just getting abnormal specifically when my dad mentioned that I might have schizophrenia
I have gone through the symptoms but don't know if that's the reason. I don't have hallucinations but maybe delusion. --- you know those thoughts that I've mentioned.
I even got headache for it, that headache comes just when I think negatively.
It wasn't this much but now it's feel like it just getting out of control. my physics health even getting worse.
I don't know how to control it. _That unwanted thoughts of mine_

Hey I have a question (TW)
.
.
.
I have found myself putting a lot of my traits onto a cartoon character (that I didnt make) and imagining them in bad situations. The character in the actual cartoon is very flat but I noticed one trait we share and then projected my entire self on them. I have also found that my persona (a character that is supposedly to be you) is someone I wish I knew instead of myself. I thought my teenage brain was just being angsty but now Im wondering if it could be some sort of trauma response that my neurodivergent brain gave me.

Ive had negative self talk issues since idek when. But a moment in my childhood that really defined it was there was this school dance in late elementary and a boy from my grade asked if he would dance with me. While tryna ask me, he couldnt keep a straight face and continued to snicker. When I looked behind him, these girls who were the pretty ones were also snickering. Turns out that they dared/paid him $$ to come ask me to dance. I casually spent the rest of the evening crying in the corner

Im almost 18 and it was only recently did I realize how harshly i judged myself and others. I always thought the phrase nobody's ugly was a lie and that there is a measurement on how beautiful one is. I feel dumb and ashamed to take this long to realize that beauty is just a concept people made. I feel a bit more confident now with myself and apologize to the people and surroundings I've since called ugly when in reality it just didn't fit with the image of what i consider beautiful.

Thank you so much! Psych2Go! I have struggled with this problem for years and years, having been raped and abused at an early age, then suffering through it with parents who didn't give a shit. The little Inner voice that sometimes says. Maybe you deserved it or No-one loves or wants YOU! You are doing a momentous compassionate service to humanity with these videos; and, whoever produces and writes them deserves the Nobel prize for service to humanity!

If you are struggling with problems like this, look at yourself in a mirror, and look into your eyes: tell yourself you are a good person. Use your name.
This really works. When an adult talks down to you, they often look you in the eyes, so turn the tables. You must look yourself in the eyes, use your name, and do the opposite of putting yourself down.
Most of all, smile. Be happy.
Good luck, and remember, you are a good person.

I am drained everyday, I don't even have a job or something to keep myself busy. I feel like I'm not capable to do anything. No matter how much I try to convince myself to just get up and start your day, I end up sleeping more than I should. What does it all mean? I used to love to draw but now I get exhausted to even pick up the pencil. What does that all mean? I'm lost
reply

Thank you for this. My family is pretty critical and I can't drive yet so its hard to get out of the house sometimes and remember that I am not the criticisms people say. Sincerely, thank you, thank you, for reminding me that I'm braver, stronger, smarted, and ultimately more wonderful that I think i am. Best to everyone at psych2go.

Is negative self thought can be somw times me just staring at nothing and just imagining myself dying gruesomely or getting into accidents? I had this one experience in highschool where i almost slipped from the stairs and just stared at where i could have almost fall and crack my head on and imagined if it actually happened
reply

Your thoughts create your world! Never ever let someone's projections miss lead you either! It took a very powerful lesson by someone who mistreated me, but they taught me to accept and acknowledge my own value. They accused me of things that were just insecurities about themselves they're not addressing.
reply

Its hard to not talk like this to myself when so many people are talking to me like that. Its hard not to pick apart every flaw when everyone does that for you too in a daily basis. No I cant just cut the toxic and judgmental people out of my life. They are in my home and my school and my social circle.

Great video. I did TMS treatment after being treatment resistant, and it really stopped the majority of the negative self talk. It helped also in that it was just easier to make friends, slowly formed friends with people who care. So it's weird how it happens. It's almost like we need a push first.

I'm in this stage for years, I made it worst. But sometimes, I just look in the mirror and say good things, it still takes me time to be the person I want to say. It's hard to type this because it somewhat triggers(and a bit uncomfortable) me, still, I'm going to do it anyway.

Yeah, Ive been there. Even when I just talk bad about myself and my problems and how it was and people assumed my comments, when I said when someone is my subconscious is not bad, but people thought it was sad, I always want a Vannamelon in my subconscious to help me!

The worst thing about negative self-talk is you don't even notice you've done it for years and years and years and years and years and years and years you literally can't stop and you play all of it off as a joke everything so
