Dig into how your age can affect your decision making, and explore the psychology of how we weigh risks against rewards. -- Welcome to Risky Business, the game where we find out how far people will go to win a prize! Today’s contestants are a 21 year-old, a 16 year-old, and a 12 year-old. They'll compete in a series of three challenges: eating ghost pepper cookies, swimming in honey, and crossing a balance beam over poison ivy. Who will win Dan Kwartler takes a look at how people at different ages make decisions.

I'm over 30. Swimming in honey is the only one I wouldn't do for a minor reward. I am a strong swimmer but if the honey was deep enough I couldn't touch the bottom&sides most of the time then the risk of drowning is not worth it. I eat ghost peppers for fun as is and while I'm not a gymnast I am confident balancing and have low reactivity to the toxin in poison ivy

That explains why I always feel older than my peers, even people, a few years older than me. The fact that 2 oit of 3 people I consider my best friends are older than my mom and is at least twice my age, and the other one also seems to be an old soul and worries more about her younger siblings' future than their own mom.

I ate one at work as was offered from a coworker. It was a really bad decision. 3 of us did it and one went home, one wasnt affected at all and i was completely destroyed. A customer that day actually sent a cheesecake and that was the only thing that helped

I am pretty sure you would drown in honey and die if the pool is deep, the viscosity is probably too high for any human to get though, maybe you could run across if it is solid enough to take a step on before sinking.

i'm starting to feel like more videos of ted-ed maybe created by AI, or like the scripts are writen by them because it feels strange, kind of lack the human touch like the old videos. It's just my feelings, not a fact.

The last one isnt just about risk and random chance, its also about confidence. There's no randomness to it so if you know that you have good coordination you're much more likely to try because the risk is much lower

At the age of 42, the reward for me would actually be eating the ghost pepper cookie - never having eaten something so spicy, that experience in itself would be a life long treasure that I'd never forget.

I’m 30 years old I would eat the cookie and swim in the honey pool for little to no prize. But I have to know the reward If I’m going to cross that bridge.

I have had eaten ghost pepper wings.
I even have ghost pepper jerky and hot sauce in my pantry.
This one would be an easy challenge.

I'm biased, I love spicy food enough to have a palatte adjusted enough to eat habaneros. I'd probably ENJOY the ghost pepper cookie. XD
