Its hard to imagine Venice without the curious, banana-shaped gondolas that glide down the canals. How did these boats come to be the trademark transportation of Venice? Laura Morelli details the history of the gondola, explaining why these boats were needed, the painstaking process by which they were made and why they have slowly begun to fade from the once-crowded canals. I've been on a gondola-ride before. It's a boat experience like none other I've ever witnessed. There's something remarkably relaxing in traveling in a gondola down a silent and calm backstreets of Venice. If you ever go to Venice, I'd highly suggest taking a gondola trip.

I went to venice as my graduation gift and I loved going on the gondola and I would happily go back there and if anything it was great exercise given we had to walk everywhere, I think my stamina increased just from it lol

Gondolas are nice but it is outrageous to pay around 80-100 EUR an hour. Maybe if you are an all-out tourist but for young visitors you can enjoy a delightful meal for two along the canal for that price. :)

Venice was a tiny country that controlled Europe for a bit. But rhey have a cooler title than the still powerful US. They also have cool buildings, boats and art. We have some catching up to do

My uncle always told me a gondola came from Uganda but then a bunch of pilfering Italian jewselsteins stole it and named it a gondola instead of a Ugandala.

It looks kind of like the Viking longships, so maybe gondolas were also designed to go as easily forwards as backwards in those narrow canals?

Well, when I think of Venice, I think of Assassins Creed xD Cause of this, some things in the video seemed strangely familiar.
