CPT Eric Brown RN pilot &Test pilot (who flew more aircraft than anyone in history) had been testing jets trying to break the sound barrier but the controls always froze.
It was he and the engineers at a British company that came up with the idea of the moving tail plane.
The day before they were to reach the speed of sound the Government told them everything was to be stopped. No reason was given. Everything they had discovered was to be packed up and shipped of to the Americans.
Subsequently they were first to fly mach1.

The mantis shrimp is the most famous of the supersonic clawed shrimp
Its eyes can see colours that humans can't see.
And its claw snaps so hard that if it grabbed your finger it would break it easily.

All moving tailplanes/horizontal stabilizers does not have anything to do with the ability to break the sound barrier, they are there to improve controleability near, at and above Mach 1.

What if you followed the aircraft and stayed just at the spot where the sonic boom happens and stayed there, following the craft, would you hear a perpetual sonic boom?

Actually during WW2 a British pilot flew a rocket-propelled glider that was dropped from a bomber and passed the sound barrier
