RIchard II succeeding his grandfather's throne ahead of his powerful uncles, thus causing a power struggle and nationwide conflict - welp, as a Chinese it's amazing how eerily similar this is to the war that erupted in MIng Dynasty China after the founding Emperor decided to pass the throne to his grandson (by his favourite, eldest son who also died before him. Ultimately Prince Yan prevailed and usurped the throne from his nephew, becoming the famous Emperor Yongle (notable events during reign - commissioning the great Treasure Fleet and moving the capital to today's Beijing, with his grand new palace becoming what we know today as the Forbidden City. And incidentally his reign was roughly around the time of the Wars of the Roses!

Poor Henry VI, not only did poor Henry inherit the throne so young, but he also inherited a loosing war, the 100 years, then when the 100 years war ended, Henry had to deal with a bunch of relatives which wanted the throne.
And if this and the recently begining war of the Roses was not enough for poor Henry, he also a Yorkist (Richard of York) who Henry believed was loyal to him.
Eventually, the Yorkist hired an army and declared war, after which, Henry got so shocked he caught a mental illness.
Margaret of Anjou is litteraly the only good thing that happened to Poor Henry.

1: 50 Margaret of Anjou reminds me to Margaery Tyrell too.
Also, I think the War of the Roses has more similarities to the Dance of the Dragons than to the Stark-Lannister conflict in the present. In the Dance of Dragons, both enemy sides (the Green and the Blacks) end up marrying after having bled the kingdom and the royal family. Perhaps the same idea could even be applied to the Blackfyre conflict. if in the end Faegon (possible blackfyre) marries Dany (a pure targaryen. Anyway I do not think that happens, given that both are going to fight each other and die xd

I think the current story of GOT just a re-telling of end of the Rome empire. White walkers are Huns, Reach is Spain, Starks are Franks and Daenerys is the last true Rome. etc. You can even guess how this story will ends. There will be a huge better some around France. Both side lose heavily. Then, They will execute Daenerys. White walker march to the Rome. Then every one take turns and take over the kings landing. It is a good story.

The war what inspired Game of Thrones? Game of Thrones literally just took the history of the war roses and put it into a movie. The only thing they did change was they renamed the characters and the places and just put some fictional things in it. Like white walkers in dragons.

Btw how the mighty House of Platengenet defeated easily by the House of York? Platengenet are direct descendants of the mighty Normans & have lots of battle experience.

Anne Neville could be Margaery Tyrell-- married to the original heir and then married off in quick succession to the next heir after his death.

This is a cute vid. Although the Wars of the Roses may have inspired Martin's Game of Thrones, GoT certainly doesn't parallel the Wars.
