I found a better solution.
Open a random box. If it contains the instrument on the picture, open the next one. If not, open the box that contains the picture of the instrument you just found. Switch out both instruments. Open the box picturing your instrument last. If you do this, that gives you an at least 40% chance everyone will find their instrument. And it complies with all the rules.

Instead of this all those ten musician open the box and take what ever the instrument they get and later exchange with everyones own instrument on the stage. this has 100% chance of performing their band on stage

What is the last musician opens a box and finds no instrument in it, or in fact any musician, like the possibility reduces and still 3 or 4 may make it
reply

But what if the person who found the instrument took it out and when another person went to check that box and it was empty what would happen then.
reply

Couldnt they have just shook the boxes while the boxes are closed and whichever boxes sound the most like their instrument they could open.
