Why do whales sing? - Stephanie Sardelis

Communicating underwater is challenging. Light and odors dont travel well, but sound moves about four times faster in water than in air which means marine mammals often use sounds to communicate. The most famous of these underwater vocalizations is undoubtedly the whale song. Stephanie Sardelis decodes the evocative melodies composed by the worlds largest mammals. Lesson by Stephanie Sardelis

This video made me cry. To imagine the whales have difficulties to communicate, and basically to live in peace (refer to 4: 15) is devastating. Humans ego are way too high to try to back off just to let nature be as it is. Imagine if we eventually run out whales but more greedy people and don't care about the wellbeing of the earth, just care about making more money. I am tired.

Really helpful video. Thanks for uploading. So, can humans hear whale's singing? If you were out on a clam night, would the frequency be picked up by human ears?

The songs is how they communicate. And true sound does travel fast under water then air above. It's cool how sounds are more used under then above water

The more nature shows I watch, the more my hate for humanity goes up. We aren't worthy to share this planet with so many wonderful species.
