The ability to recognize sounds and identify their location is possible thanks to the auditory system. Thats comprised of two main parts: the ear, and the brain. The ears task is to convert sound energy into neural signals; the brains is to receive and process the information those signals contain. To understand how that works, Douglas L. Oliver follows a sound on its journey into the ear. Lesson by Douglas L. Oliver

This is good, but I think it would have been a good idea to go over the decibel levels that one can expect from everyday life and the dangers, with facts and going over the issues of the broken auditory system more like hyperacusis and visual snow. Make it a more complete warning to kids and those who watch this just how dangerous the world is to their ears now. I would suggest talking about putting a volume limiter on your phone as well.

I understand with seeing that the brain tells the thalmus what to look for and what not to send to the cortex. Does the brain tell something in the ear what to look for and what not to send?
