Love this book. Hey folks, before reading this book, for better understanding of humor and a context watch few short history clips on youtube about history of russia in 30s, and post revolution period, 17-30s when communist state was just establishing. Also highly recommend other Bulgakovs book The dogs heart. - true masterpiece as well. Also my favourite russian book is Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Guys what are top 3 books in your country? Would love to hear it.

After reading this book i had a strange feeling that its written not for me. And the author itself not talking to me. The book itself has nothing of great bulgakov's style of writing. After doing some research i've watched Bikov's lecture about Master and Margarita. And Bikov was right. This book was written only for one person. For Joseph Stalin. To not desturb the Master. He changed his style for some lower intelect man coul'd understand him.

Its sad to see a continuous anti-Russian propaganda through TED. The genius of Bulgakov was not only writing about Soviet regime of that time but understanding human psychology and the alchemy of relationship between people. In this video you have diminished a great Russian literature piece by presenting it one-dimensionally and narrow-minded

In the Master and Margarita the author sees more anti-Sovietism than it actually was in the book ) All anti-Sovietism is represented in the philosophical and religious conversation between Woland and Berlioz. One religious thought throughout the novel is not yet Bulgakov's anti-Sovietism.

I don't think it's possible translate this novel in full extent, it has multilayered meaning hidden in rhythm and poetic of russian lang, only those who are native to russian culture can appreciate its whole beauty.

Bulgakov was probably the only author that Stalin didnt kill. However, he died before WW2 started, 14 years before Stalins death. Probably, Stalin wouldve killed him eventually. He killed many after the war

An older friend of my mother's gave this book to me when I was 13, and told me it was important, I read it, and was frankly, baffled. I'm so glad I re-read it when I was a bit older.

My favourite novel! One of the interpretations is that Woland is not Satan but God in the Old Testament. Not causing trouble, not touching anything, fixing the primus. Behemoth

I read it 3 times and in different ages. Every time it was like first time, you will laugh and cry in different places depending of your age. My favorite book so far.
