I had terrible dandruff years ago until I started using Head and Shoulders. I know this sounds like an ad, but I'm just a customer. I tried all sorts of other shampoos and treatments, doctor-prescribed lotions (including steroids) etc and nothing worked. I often thought that these were very aggressive but H&S is gentle. It worked for me so maybe for you.

Protip if struggling with dandruff
Dry you hair extra well
Don t take super hot showers
Before taking a shower scratch your head/rough up the scalp then shower normally with anti dandruff products
Also bewared not to use anti dandruff shampoo everyday this can lead to cracking/flaking skin unrelated to dandruff

I got rid of very bad dandruff by stopping using shampoo, after trying every miracle product in the pharmacy. I use ghassoul now (it's a kind of clay I mix with water. My mom used to use when she was a child in North Africa. My hair never been so thick and healthy!

But nothing here explain why when I shave my head it cause the dandruff to cease. Somehow, with the explanations you gave, it doesn't seem like it should impede it in anyway but I assure you it really does and that why I'm practically bald now.

I am not that bothered by it, because if you take showers regularly - it's no biggie, but the constant feeling of itching just torments me. Even in my sleep I scratch myself and I noticed that I lose water really fast while at work.

According to Ayurveda, issues related to digestion and gut might cause dandruff, dandruff in itself is not an issue, it might be the result of bad gut health and Ayurveda definitely has a solution for dandruff.

Me before watching the video: Ya this video is definitely for me.
Me after watching: So it is just embarrassing and may have benefits. Hmm.
( I should not have watched it. I am even more confused )

Tip to get rid of it: I tried to put 2 to 3 drops of tea tree essential oil in my shampoo (2 to 3 shampoo a week) and it seems to work for me
Ps: be cautious, some people react badly to essential oil

For anyone struggling with dandruff:
- first line treatment is Head & Shoulders or a coal tar shampoo
- for worse cases, prescription topical steroid and antifungal

It shouldn't be too hard to GM the yeast to consume unsaturated fatty acids also. That would end dandruff permanently with one treatment.
