4: 14 the caption here is wrong, I myself am Venezuelan but have lived abroad as well so I can't fluently speak Spanish and English, I understand why the documentary censored what he truly said but I wanted to let everyone know what the capture should have said, the real translation is the following Black, I'm leaving. NOW LISTEN to the translation here doesn't do justice to its true meaning in Spanish, IN LATINO AMERICA we usually make jokes or call people things some may consider racist when In reality they are not, for example my brother is tan, a trait he inherited from my mom, but my dad is white, so he some times refers to my brother as mi negrito or my dear black IS SOUNDS VERY RACIST but its not meant as such, I just wanted to show how different cultures treat different things, OFFCOURSE I'm not saying you should go out their and start calling people by their color of skin or race, that's not right, the examples I listed are under a certain context of culture, and from the people I know personally, such as my brother, they don't being mind call that, and know growing up with such practices did not make me rasist, I never thought someone a different race than mine was less or more than me, SO TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT, this kinda speech is used WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF LATINO AND VENEZUELAN CULTURE, sorry if I sounded offensive at all, if I did I'm really sorry. I just wanted to explain some interesting fact of latino (more specifically Venezuelan culture) stay safe! and have a nice day: )

There's something missing here. In spite of the clickbait title, there is almost no criticism. The truest insults to a hero's memory are found in uncritical praise.
Chavez clearly had empathy with his people. But he was human with human limitations - he could be wrong and some of his policies could be wrong. How come things went wrong, mostly after Chavez died - and 20% of the people (5 or 6 million ) fled the country? Were the migrants all rich? Or had the government just run out of wealth to to redistribute?
Chavez made friends with the US's enemies. Well and good, if you like the nationalist theme. So why aren't these new friends helping to bypass US pressure or sanctions and make Venezuela successful? Or is that not a wise plan after all?
If its all Maduro's fault and he is a poor successor to the charismatic Chavez, then why did he choose him? Was Chavez blind to his VP's shortcomings? And why didn't the Chavistas remove him when things started to look bad?

reply

It is a pity that such a charismatic beloved leader passes away in such a young age. He could be with his people for at least 20 more years.
May he rest in peace. We will never forget what Hugo Chavez did for his people, he had a great heart even for his compatriots that disliked him. His compation for his fellow humanbeings was genuin and real. One could read genuin feelings on his face and his gestures. Hugo Chavez will always be with us as long as we live! Venezuelans will remember him as the greatest leader Venezuela had ever had!

From idealistic soldier to dictator. this is how it works in humans. you start wanting to do well for your country but as you grow older satan with much patients begins to enter your heart and you never knew when he entered, and you become a dictator. see in any youth in power follow them thru their careers see how they begin (humble) see how EVERYONE ends that is the sole reason no one cares the only thing they care is for your suffering.

As a person that lived through all of this, came to this thinking I was going to get both sides. and as a person that lived through all of this in venezuela. this is all propaganda, almost every story they told they took huge parts of it and only told you the good parts of it, he destroyed millions of Lives, faked coups, kicked farmers and people out of their homes, killed thousands of innocent people and they ignored all of it here
reply

It is so rare to actually have a politician who comes from the people and works to benefit the people, rather than the imperialistic hegemon, as do Western capitalist countries and their puppet governments, that that person becomes a beloved hero. I was so sad when comrade Chavez died prematurely. But the dream lives on in the hearts of people throughout the world who love freedom, democracy, and national sovereignty.
reply

The comments here really show the extent of the cult of personality of Hugo Chavez.
The man is remembered as a hero instead of a tyrant who set up the foundations for an oligarchy.
He became one of the wealthiest people in his country yet the gall y'all gringos and Chavista traitors have to call him a socialist revolutionary who uplifted the poor is astounding.

Hugo Chavez Real Legacy: From the Riches to Rags for almost all Venezuelans. Why is this Venezuala Documentary so blind to the Truth that despite his Bolivarian Vision and Socialist Model of an Dream of a Just and Equal Utopia for everyone, the country has the highest Inflation rate in the World. Surely Venezuela is the Sri Lanka of the Caribbean today!
reply

He was an idiot and a hero for some at the same time. You can have good intentions but if you don't know how to manage a country properly and have a balance of capitalism and socialism then you will loose and impoverish even more the very people one was trying to help. Cuando comenso aprioparse de un monton de negocios, comensaron los problemas.
reply

We need to listen to the poor and working class Venezuelans. They know Chavezs true legacy. Lets give them some air time. We already allowed the white and wealthy opposition to speak. And thats the reality. Juan Guidoss crowd is similar to white america and Chavezs crowd is similar to black America. A privileged group vs an oppressed.
reply

Now look at Venezuela, its a mess, Chavez destroyed it by using oil money to pay for handouts.
socalismis a cance that destroys work ethic and indoctrinates victimhood and dependency on Government instead of free market capitalism that allows the individual to flourish,
The problem in Latin America is pure corruption.

reply

The grocery stores in my town are called Hugos and Hornbachers and I always forget which name to make fun of when I make a joke about chavez while Im buying everything I want and need.
Have fun starving in venezuela.
Hello, Hornbacher Chavez. Or is it Hugos chavez? I forget.

reply

Ah yes, ran his country's economy into the ground. So brave. So much love for his people. Chavez was like every other dictator in history. Venezuela is yet another example of failed socialism and the liberal elites in this country want to turn the U. S. into the next Venezuela.
reply

Long live Chavez, and he wasn't a dictator. Ask the poor brown and black Venezuelans how they felt about Chavez. Don't just ask the white and wealthy Venezuelans who conducted an undemocratic coup in 2002. Also, he fairly won every election that he participated in.
reply

Not a very objective video. Bush maybe a donkey but Chavez is the jackass who ruined the economy of Venezvuela.
You do not need to implement socialism to fight poverty. Today it is the poorest Venezuelans who are suffering from double digit inflation.

reply

After watching this and reading the comments, I conclude that Venezuelans deserve what they got with him. They voted in a socialist military dictator who endedup ruining their country but offering them bread and circuses. You get what you pay for.
reply

Honestly i don't see a dictator, what i see is a man with good plans of bringing his people Latin America regions together. and i can say that's why America was worried very worried about him. long live his Legacy. one of my best president
reply

This is obviously a propaganda for Chavez.
The world knows what he did - and his successor Maduro continue doiing - to the once richest in the region.
Venezuelans still ruing their mistake to this day.
Yes he was an idiot.

reply

Its the corruption thats taken down Venezuela over and over regardless of what system it has at that time. Extreme corruption has always plagued every nation except for western nations which only have moderate corruption.
