50 Historical Photos That Will Leave You Speechless! What seems to always make me smile have have feelings is the photos showing leaders and famous people being shown to be human or caring.
Castro donating blood. That came out of left field for me and you dont expect that from a Dictator, but he did.
Stalin looking upset, saddened, and/or panicked. Stalin is always seen as a high amd mighty figure, but like everyone he is just a person.
Lenin playing with a dog. Lenin is not a figure known for have much to care about aside from the Revolution, but see a man growing closer and closer to passing away, playing with a dog.
The King of Sweden crashing a car. Kings are normally distant from us, but see one experience something many of us have experienced in a car.
Princess Diana shaking hands with a Aids patient. Not many times a figure does something like this and she did.

1: 30 that Mon Sing Restaurant was in existence since atleast 1973 according to an article on The New York Times digital archives. Sadly it's not there anymore. Boring to some but an interesting picture to me. The banner over the street reads we support Ed Koch for mayor. What magical time it must have been compared to the zoo the city has become.

The picture at 5: 52 of the day Sweden changed from driving on the right to driving on the left makes it look like there was chaos, but the transition actually went smoothly. There were only around 150 minor accidents the day of the switch, and the next day (Monday, there were slightly fewer accidents than on a typical Monday.

At 6: 42 Statue of Liberty is Ready for Export, 1885 - this seems dubious, the torch & arm were already in the US having been taken in advance for fund raising. It was first in Philadelphia in 1876 and later in New York. There might be more to the story that I need to learn, however. And, it's still a great pic.

Execution by cannon, wonder if they let him have a couple drags off a cigarette and then lit the cannon fuse with it.
N. Korea has evolved the means of death by using Anti-aircraft weapons to execute, that or turning hungry dogs loose onto a person. Think anti-aircraft would be preferable.

The Boston Marathon photo shows one man (dude in a suit) trying to stop her and several more pushing him away FYI. It’s easier to see if you see the full series of photos. Restores a little faith in people that at least there were more decent blokes than douche bags there that day.

Fascinating insight into modern history through photography - though I confess that when seeing Lenin, Stalin, and Castro I recoiled a bit because all of them were mass-murdering dictators. I just wish photography existed for the last 10, 000 years. What images we'd see then!

The last public guillotine was in 1939 but what I think is crazy is the last one they did was in 1977 only about 4 months after A New Hope was released. It seems like such a barbaric execution style to us now but they really didn’t stop using it all that long ago

My sister and her husband were on the plane at 7: 52 on the flight just before the roof came off.
They landed and went on their way, that plane was refueled, loaded with people and then took off again and the accident happened.

This photo selection normalized communist mass murderers. Showing their human side. For the camera.
Photo collections like this should try to show the unvarnished truth, not the well crafted facade.

What part of the Grand Canal in Venice is this, my recollection of the canal it is a lot wider than this and that is not a bridge over the grand canal. How many more of these photos are not correct

FYI Your picture of the Boston Marathon is mislabeled. The man behind Switzer is one of the organizers, Jock somebody. He was trying to get to Switzer. The others were trying to help Switzer.

2: 35 image is very misleading. Those kids are just playing around. There's no bottom on the cage. Couple of others where also a little misleading but other than that great video. I enjoyed it

Lots of photos showing theft and depopulation. And then one of the bloodline families comes in and pretends to be concerned. And they are behind all conflicts. Because what would they live on

The music makes these images even more powerful and I didn't realize exactly how much more powerful until I watched it a second time after I fixed my audio.

The timing is really bad for photos with longer explanations, this is really annoying, because I have to pause the video. Why no one thought about it

2: 01 Stalin be like: damn Dolfy, I thought we were going to be friends. have picnics every summer, and watch the auroras together on the winters.

7: 45. What a way to exhibit manliness/physical-ability - by preventing competition and preventing others from showing their worth/ability!
reply

Cool fact-
the last guillotine execution in 1939 France, The famous actor Christopher Lee was there in the crowd as a young man.

0: 10 is probably the most depressing photo I've ever seen and will see in my life
2: 35 is also depressing. Keeping a human as a pet

reply

A suggestion, if I might. On photos with lots of print, you might allow more time for those of us with bad eyes to read them.

Execution by cannon in 1890 7: 06 Horrifying is putting it mildly. Man is truly the most savage beast on the planet. Nauseating!

The only one trying to stop the female runner is the guy wearing a suit. The guy to her right is trying to stop him from doing so

Speechless Really LOL. I can’t stand pathetic bait and click statements that attempt to get people to open the link.

These photographs are to be seen with a neutral mind. They illustrate the changing fortunes of our species.

Ruth Lee is flying the Taiwanese flag, not the Chinese flag, although China claims Taiwan is part of China.

That dude with the depression was sad, hope he succeeded and had a nice life with his family. (EDIT: Grammar Errors)

If it doesn't say Boeing on the fuselage and Rolls Royce on the engine's then I am not flying in it!

Pretty sure the pic of the Grand Canal is wrong, the canal in the photo is too narrow to be of the Grand Canal
reply

By today’s standards the guillotine may be a bit barbaric, but during its heyday it was considered. cutting edge!
reply

That most certainly is NOT the last public execution by beheading. Isis and Taliban do it numerous times a day
