If Queen Elizabeth had a paper drawn up that Mary would never try to over throw queen E. Even if Queen E would die, & Queen E Keep her assure secure until after her death, why would Mary Queen of Scotts be a threat. There would be no need for Mary to be behind any threat to Queen E. & there would be no need for Queen E to have Marys head. I feel there was just to many evil cut throats that just wanted to make Mary an enemy & wanted her head & played Queen E to do the dirty work. Id say Mary Queen of Scotts half brother was behind it all he wanted Mary out of the way & never dreamed Queen E would make Marys son her assure to take the throne after her death.

I am so interested to know more about Mary, Queen of Scots -- my 12th Great Grandmother. I find it interesting that her third husband flees to Denmark and dies in jail while she is executed in England. I don't think Elizabeth wanted to execute Mary even though she had signed the death warrant; it was Elizabeth's advisors that wanted Mary out of the way. James VI of Scotland accepted Elizabeth's apology for his mother's death.

Mary was outclassed by Elizabeth 1 all the way. Elizabeth was a full-on Tudor, and they weren't down for no play-play with their rivals. Dealing with them was an intense contact sport, and you either won or didn't. Mary was pampered in her early life; Elizabeth had to scrap, scheme, chin and grin to survive and get to the throne and stay there. She was raised in a far harder school than Mary, and it showed.

Henry VIII removed the entire Stuart line from the English thrown. Marie Stuart had no claim to that thrown. James should never have became King of England.
Marie Stuart went to England asking Elizabeth to overthrow James her own son. Elizabeth was never going to do that. He was King. Marie Stuart wasn't Queen of Scots anymore.

Neat thing I had when I was really little:
I had a snowy owl puppet that my dad named Mary Queen of Scots. Its head broke off when we moved so that's how it got its name. I made up a little song for it. Mary, Mary, Queen of Scots. Won't you sit around and look at your pots, as I surrounded the owl with my play kitchen pots and pans.

I feel sorry for her. She became a Queen against her wish at a very young age and all she tried is to strengthen her country and protect it from other countries. She lost the love of her life. She didn't get to see her son grow but she won atlast. She made her son the heir to English throne. Queen who made it happen against all odds

Overall you have to admire Marys great tenacity, had she not made a reach for what was invariably hers, any respect bestowed her would have been denied. Elizabeth knew she was a threat and set the wheels in motion to have the Queen of Scots neutralized. Both did what was intended of them with no winners but a sad end

What the hell. ever happened to Sebastian In the movie of course. He said he would be there when Mary needed him most. I would think beheading just might qualify. Did he die in the movie when I wasnt looking? If he did, he did it twice. I watched it twice and still couldnt figure it out.

She is such a beloved historical figure because even though she was a queen from birth her whole life was a tragedy, I think the happiest and only moment of her life was giving birth to her son, but even then she wasnt able to see him grow. Theres just so much tragedy in her life.

Elizabeth didn't take as well to the returning queen. well, no kidding. Mary called herself the true queen of England, and used the English arms on her banner. That was essentially declaring that Elizabeth was a usurper to her own throne. No monarch would happily accept THAT!

I feel Mary was wrongly put to death. Queen Elizabeth was paranoid and always afraid Mary would take her crown. There were also the men, missionaries who I feel played a large role in keeping the two from reconciling and were against women ruling the country.

I think Mary Stewart is fascinating. But I have said this before I think Mary Stewart was innocent of the Babington plot. But she definitely wanted Elizabeth dead and may have been guilty in other plots that Walsingham and Cecil never discovered.

The fact that Mary's execution was so horribly botched has always broke my heart but I had a twisted laugh because in a way. Mary got her revenge. I wish I could have been there to see the look on the executioner's face

If I didn't support Elizabeth before, your video made me realise just how selfish and indeed idiotic Mary was. Elizabeth had no option but to have her executed. Dr Nicholas Walker

Even though Reign is historically inaccurate, I love the show, and it got me interested in the real history behind it. Really, these eras had a lot of strong female sovereigns.
