A lion has bitten her in the head in her own production, this tough lady went to hospital, they fixed her and she re-shot the scene with another lion one of the next days. I just feel bad for the lions in the situation
Besides being raised in such a way probably affected them mentally the fact some died during the flood and 3 where literally SHOT is such a tragedy. These cats might have attacked people but that is just the nature of such animals, they are the predator in this situation so they didnt deserve any of casualties that happened during this films production.
Everyone is focused on people getting injured but at at least nobody died in the process, I wish I could say the same for these rare big cats. They deserved soo much better

I dont know if it is the luck of the draw or the way a cat is conditioned as a youngster, but two of my cats are the sweetest most loving creatures ever. The third one, a totally different personality, had no problem biting at me if I tried to cut his nails and didnt give the treats fast enough. I know that you should never play with a kitten by tickling its tummy and letting it claw and kick -thats not so cute when they grow up. ..
As for Roar, what an idiot project. It really angers me that people were put in such danger and three lions were shot.

Tippi being a good sport set up a refuge for great cats of Hollywood. I remember Melanie Griffiths saying she still has people ask about that scar on her face and it sounds pretty bad ass to say, Oh, I got that from a Lion. A similar incident happened in the 1980s to Madonna who used lions in her Like a Virgin video in Venice Italy. The lions being the symbol for the famous city. She also received a horizontal scar on the face from a lion. I think I remember she's floating along in a gondola with a lion in it.

I saw this film the first time when shown at a theatre in Valencia, CA. The Actress Tippi Hedron was present at the premier. I loved the movie. Thereafter we visited Shambala Animal Preserve she ran in Acton where most of the movie was shot. I made a video of my visit to the preserve. Thanks for details on all injuries of people and delays that incurred due to natural disasters.

I saw it and the only thing to be admired was the magnificence of all the big cats. That they were in captivity and made to act abnormally (for them) is sad. As for the director and the actors, well, they got what they signed up for. That's why they call them wild animals. Destined to be a cult classic.

I feel really bad for lions, imagine being kidnapped and raised awfully by a bunch of humans forced to be treated as a toy or object and when you rightfully act in self defence when they touch you uncomfortably or try to climb in you, youre shot for it

Whats insane is that a bunch of injuries and just plain bad luck happened on this film set, and there were at least 100 zookeepers around the animals! Imagine what wouldve happened if no one was around. All hell would break lose. That I know of, at least no one died

That was crazy! In 1992 I adopted a cougar from Shambala - Tippi Hedren's Preserve and used to go there once a month to visit the big cats. It was a blast and Tippi was always there and so nice. Poor Melanie Griffith - can you imagine acting in that at 17?

To this day, Tippi Hedren is 91 and still has about 13 big cats. They are enclosed in compounds, but seriously. She enabled behavior that endangered her children. This wasnt just her husband. It blows my mind.
