The candidates for the space elevator to be built is some countries that located on the equator. Such as Indonesia, Brazil, Congo, Kenya, Colombia, Uganda, Equador, Somalia, Gabon, Saotome and Principe, Maladewa, and Kiribati.
Addition:
Maybe in the future, Nusantara (the new capital city of Indonesia) will be a candidate for the space elevator to be built because this city is right on the equator. Ah. unfortunately Singapore is not on the equator.

When I finished high school in the mid 70s, I/we would have NEVER EVER imagined cell phones, GPS, microwave ovens etc. So it is NOT out of reach that one day, if we don't make the planet uninhabitable, brilliant minds will figure out other ways to space and beyond.

You missed the most important question: -Is it even possible to build the damn thing without it blowing up? - The answer, for the record, is no. Also, 1: 10 and the whole part about what happens if the cable snaps, and the moon thing are stolen from Kurzegazgt.

No here's why stuff can and will crash into the cable thing and destroy it making even more space debry for humanity to deal with and those that are in it, will just get knocked off course and sent into space and probably die.

Would be perfect on Mars if we blew up its moons. On Earth a space elevator would be effected dramatically by solar radiation and how would carbon nano tubes respond to being exposed to such elements

We should build an auto cut for the string. for example if the string breaks on top then its our duty to break it on earth also to prevent loss. and vice-versa.
