What If We Built a Dyson Sphere Around the Sun?

What if we could engineer a gigantic megastructure capable of harvesting every bit of the Sun's energy? Something known as a Dyson sphere. How long would it take to construct this megashell? Where would we find all the materials needed? And what could we do with the structure once we finally built it? Here's what would happen if we could build a Dyson sphere around the Sun

It seems such a colossal idea it makes me wonder if it could be done on a smaller scale with a type of ship fission reactor engine mimicking the sun with a habitable ring the whole thing rotating for gravity filter shields simulate daylight nighttime earth ships with or without destination now that's got me thinking about the big bang could it be a product of an advanced race for fuel and everything else is a byproduct

First I saw the What if Betelgeuse exploded right now? video and then at the ending he said if a Quasar entered our SolarS and it showed up and then he said What If We Could Harness the Energy of a Black Hole? - and it came and he said What If We Had Working Warp Drive Technology? and it came and in that he said this video and it came and I saw and now it became the end of the SUGGESTION VIDEOS CHIAIN REACTION.

This could work because it won-t block the earths energy from the sun because small doses of solar panels won-t block the sun, but it might affect the people operating the base in mercury, but one problem is the cost and the danger of being in mercury, because mercury is so close to the sun things would burn up instantly because it has no atmosphere, so that could be a problem too.

As I recall the force of gravity of a hollow shell is zero for objects inside the shell. So the sphere would at least be stable in the sense that it wouldn-t get pulled off center and hit the star. But, that also means that there would be no force holding the atmosphere on the surface of the sphere. So you-d need a roof of glass. And you-d be weightless.

Don't forget basic laws of physics: the loss of one of the planets for raw materials would destabilize the solar system (not good. The irresistible pull of the suns gravity would make near impossible the sphere's construction, said gravity would inevitably destroy the sphere itself or melt it altogether, pulling the remnants into the sun. -

And the light. The earth would be without light. And how we are supose to get this energy?
Like. we have this sphere around the sun, then the lights will be weak for the earth maybe, then if this sphere works how we take the energy that were made to our planet?
Will be there a kind of giant lines to transport the energy to earth?

If we were able to absorb the power of the sun then we would be considered a type 2 civilization. As a type 1 civilization is when we as a race would be able to use harness energy from everything on earth but hell we are not even considered a type 1 since we haven't accomplished that yet

The first question he asked was; -How long would it take, -
which is someting Ive wanted to know, since I first heard of them years ago, then he goes on to NEVER answer it!
Smhol.
Guess I, ll never know since NO source has EVER mentioned a time frame. Oh well, moving on.

It would be cool if we as a species built such an immense thing in the future. But I think, if we do, it should be in another star system with less value. If our species ever goes interstellar, our home solar system should be treated as sacred ground - or sacred space, I guess

Build a massive solar array, a station with high capacity energy cells, charge those up and transport them back to earth! 1 day charge can power a country for a month or longer! Unfortunatly this would be costly as hell, not to mention dangerous!
reply

if they have economic growth using solar panels on ground we should grow for another 300 years and then we would have runn out of free space on earth but if we built dyson sphere we could have economic growth for next 3, 000 years
reply

the time humans able build this, we probably can travel to another star system, and harvest the resources there, not to mention from our own star system's planets. so why bother to build this?
reply

I love how optimistic you view the future of humans, but the inevitable truth is that if we don't reduce greenhouse gas emissions down to 0 by 2050, we won't be needing any dyson sphere!

What if -what if you kinda took a three toed slider as a pet and named it turdy but that's what it smells like so you wanna get rid of it and don't know where to put it-
reply

This -dyson sphere- is such BS. We cannot just slowly build a structure like that around the freakin sun! Way to hot and the gravitational pull would make it impossible

Humans: Struggling with Climate change, Pollution, Overpopulation, Poverty, World Politics etc.
Also Humans: What is we could build Dyson spheres around our sun

reply

What im thinking is
Do we really need that much of solar energy like what if you just make something smaller and capable of building 1/100 of the sun

reply

Dyson Sphere to power a warp field around a solar system protecting the solar system inside the warp field bubble from threats in space.

Girls be like; MOM I CAN DO THE SPLITS
Men; let-s build a Dyson sphere / swarm around da sun and become the conqueror of the universe

would be hell if the sun went supernova and it flung that damn thing towards us like a damn runaway hamster ball ---

Today we are 1. 5 type civilization but we don't search it more time to know like me I search and make real science
reply

I like the Dyson swarm idea because with the Dyson sphere idea how would enough sunlight reach earth to support life

The thing that troubles me is where will we find something strong enough to be that close to the sun for so long -

I'm surprised Elon Musk hasn't presented this as his new -invention- and -solution- to the world yet.
