My figure's are gonna be approximate, I'm not privy right now to a calculator.
That said; In as much as the Earth is rotating at some 1, 000 mile's per hour. If it were to stop, we because we are not fixed to the planet, would continue to move some 7, 500 feet. Unless of course there were something between one and the end of the distance. In which case you would be colliding at approximately 1, 500 feet per second, which is the equivalent a thousand miles an hour.
The supposed passenger jet's that hit the tower's on 9/11, a couple of decade's ago. Were said to be doing some 450 to 500 miles per hour. When for those passenger's and crew aboard, the planet stopped for only one second. Multiply that time's three and you've got your answer as to what would happen if the Earth were to stop for 5 second's.

Ceiling fans are slowing the earth down and so are cars! We're fking doomed. Besides if any dark planet hovers near our solar system, we're fked even worse from the rear without even seeing it penetrate our magnetic fields! I'd worry more about rapid crustal-thrustal-upheaval events that would cause mega-tsunamis that would either speed up or slow down the rotation of the earth. Wouldn't it be fun if we all sped up and slowed down like we're on a roller coaster? What if the future people will have this and will be able to control how fast earth spins with the largest ceiling fans the earth's ever witnessed?

Fun fact and this has proof to back it up that the earth doesn't spin
The Georgia guide stones prove this
There is a hole cut clean through one of the stones that points to the Central star Polaris. and at any point of the day or night you can look through this hole and guess what you can see Polaris lines up through this hole 24/7
They actually have destroyed this ancient site to stop people knowing the truth. that we live on a flat plane

Lol, I kind of felt this would leave the Earth in a state of questionable habitability. And I was right. Well, some organisms would still survive, obviously, but the only humans left would be the few accidental polar scientists on their respective poles. (There is actually a scientific station on the South Pole, so the people there would probably still be OK. and have but a few months left before starvation)

Another scare tactic to make people believe the Earth actually spins. Here's a question for you: if you were in an airplane when the Earth stopped spinning, what would happen to you? Would you reach your destination faster? Could you see the change from the plane? If a plane is flying east at 600 mph, and the Earth is spinning in the same direction at 1, 000 mph, how does the plane ever reach its destination?

Not just that. 4 cornered Earth, sun revolves around the Earth, moon's distance from the Earth is greater than sun's distance from the Earth, earth is held up by - heads and earthquakes happen when these - shake their heads -------------------------
Such excellent pearls of unscientific wisdom you can find in the hindu ----------------

We're all rotating around the Earth's center at 1000+ mph. But that's nothing. Given the Earth's distance from the sun, we're all also moving around the sun's center at nearly 68, 000 mph. But that's nothing as well. Given our distance from the galactic center.

well if its like how most people think in it just stopping all rotation suddenly, then everything would all of a sudden feel the force of suddenly flying off to the east at around 800mph, we would all experience a sonic boom at the same time.

Earth spins at 1, 037 mph. If it was a sudden stop, it would be a disaster, all loose objects will be thrown by the momentum at that speed. If the spinning gradually slow down to a stop, then we will feel weightlessness for 5 seconds.

Sorta the equivalent of that old saying - it's not the speed that kills, but the deceleration trauma ( suddenl stop ) that does the job -.
I sympathise with your scientific illiteracy but ya really stuffed up on this one cuzzy.

WTF?
Pretty much all animal life would die! Some plants & microbes wouldsurvive. Anybody on or in the earth would be dead in 5 seconds. Anyone in the air would probably be ripped to shreds by unimaginable wind shear shortly after.

There would be no buildings, just a former atmosphere full of ragged metal & broken stone and concrete being hurled into orbit, if not into outer space, along with a big percentage of that former atmosphere.

If the earth stopped spinning abruptly, why wouldn't the wind stop spinning too? If there was something that cause the planet to suddenly stop spinning, we'd probably have a lot more problems than mere winds.

Can anyone tell me if Universe doesn't have air and atmosphere or any force or no gravity. How Earth and other planets revolved round to it's sun and on its axis. What kind of Science is this.

Static Earth (Not moving Earth) That's mentioned in the Hindu religious books

What if your in a plane at the time? 40, 000 mph winds? Somethings way wrong with that theory. Planes fly in all directions. they aren't flying sideways going north and south.

If this world were to suddenly stop spinning in a instant? Everything and everyone would probably fly clean into space without no one knowing what happened

What if the earth is not spinning at all and this video is propaganda to further the brainwashing?
If the earth was spinning we would feel it. common sense

The Earth has never been spinning.
The Earth is flat. The Earth does not rotate. The Earth is covered with a solid dome. We live in God's terrarium.

Every human would die. We'd be slammed 900 miles an hour into the direction of Earth's spin. There, now we can all go watch something else.

Wouldn-t the escape velocity needed change as well if the earth stopped? I always heard we-d just be ejected if something like that happened

Ironically, all of this is exactly what we'd experience constantly if the Earth was in fact a spinning globe.

Stopped for 5 secs and you will not have gravity. For those driving, its instant death sentence. Flights will stall.

Forget the wind and water. You would be crushed in less than a second unless your underground and strapped down.
