The fundamental principle of this speech is invalid. Liquid fuels are not required for transportation. This would be true if the option of alternate propulsion systems did not exist, but even so the ICE has been developed to more than an 140% increase in efficiency thus neutralizing the benefit of replacing 40% of petroleum fuels. For an example research the MYT Engine. The solution is to focus on the technology used, not alternate fuels for current technologies. And thus we should rethink the entire transportation system, and futhermore alternate energy sources for the concepts (i. e. coastal mass transit maglev trains with electricity supplied by tidal, geothermal, wind, and solar power.

What are the emissions when burning a bio-fuel? is it still co2? Is is just a bit less than gasoline? Coal is basically the product of concentrated and forged bio material over millions of years. So I'd assume burning the fresh product would create similar if not slightly less of the same emissions.

Hemp. Use Hemp. hemp makes houses(concrete, carpet, insulation[no fiberglass], shingles, rope, bio-plastic, fuel, food, soaps, oils, medicine, fabrics, and it absorbs co2 and cleans the soil. Hemp plastic car is stronger than steel and lighter than it too.
