Angry Nerd, first off the 1998 Godzilla ruled because as I commented in one of your earlier videos, he didn't look like a pathetic man in a costume, he had more animal and lizard-like features and flaws. Something that the Japanese Godzilla didn't have which made him pathetic, since he was practically invulnerable, you knew the outcome of the movie. Secondly, I'll admit that Smaug was pretty good in the movie and Benedict Cumberbatch did a superb job in voicing him, Peter Jackson strayed from the original storyline. In the book, Smaug was a dragon. In the movie, Peter Jackson portrayed him as a Wyvern. A Wyvern is a subspecies of dragon which is (or were) described in Medieval literature as being these serpent-like creatures with wings, often having spiked tails with only two legs. Dragons have four legs not only two. So Peter Jackson got it wrong

What I really think is that you should be picking on the elves that continuously change their speech patterns bettween elvish and english. It isnt practical! I think either they should pick elvish or english as the language they use unless they're talking to dwarves. I know that its more conveineient for the watchers but in reality, if this was true then they would just use elvish unless theyre talking to a diffrent thing suchas humans or hobbits.

I actually thought Benedict Cumberbatch was a great choice. He had amazing facial range and could portray both sly trickery and angry at the same time. His voice was even better, rich with deception yet, still seemingly trustworthy. Plus, I think every Sherlock fangirl( or female geek in general) swooned when they heard Martin Freeman and Benedict would be working on a film together.

I take exception to what he says here about the reign of fire dragons. I just rewatched the movie, and say what you will about it as a whole (I personally enjoy it, the dragons look incredible. Especially since it was 2002. I'm sorry but they were the first decent cg dragons. Smaug looks incredible of course, but don't spit on what reign of fire did for dragons in cinema.

My problem with Smaug is that is rather too chatty, erudite and articulate. Can you believe that Smaug finished college? Frankly, I doubt he finished high school. And the dragons I know are not interested in dialog or conversation, are not typically well educated and pronounce words very awkwardly due to lack of lips.

Benedict Cumberbatch (Am I spelling this correctly) Is an amazing actor, no doubt about it, and is a much better dragon than Sean Connery (respectively, and with a few good voice effects, perfectly fits the role of Smaug. Quite ironic how he and Martin Freeman are the two main actors in Sherlock. :D

-Smaug may be the best CG Dragon. EVER! -
This would be true, were it not for the fact that Smaug is not in fact a Dragon. He is a Wyvern. Dragons have four legs, where Wyverns have two, plus talons located at joints on the wings. There has yet to be a decent CG Dragon.

I have to say i agree that most cgi dragons are pretty bad (not including smaug. But i have to say that some people are forgetting the harry potter franchise. Dragons made and appearance multiple times and i have to say one of the best is the Hungarian horntail

you cant seriously tell me that dragon doesnt look hardcore realistic
TH: DoS, Smaug looked cartoony in comparison
like something that belongs in a video game

So Hilarious! I love this Angry Nerd guy. I think he should TOTALLY make a video on The Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies (unless there's nothing wrong with it); -)
just an idea
