Subscribe for more: - SpongeBob Squarepants is about to upgrade from a television cartoon to a movie cartoon-alongside real, non-cartoon people. It-s a tough combo to pull off. For every -Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - there-s a -Space Jam. - Or -Chipmunks. - Or -Smurfs. - Actually there-s more in the red column. Anyway, Angry Nerd is cautiously optimistic-for now

I'm worried about this Spongebob falling into the same category as Garfield: Good CG, bad writing. Actually, not so much the writing but the plot. The trailer makes the jokes sound funnier than they've been in years, but the plot is so. bland. I know its weird to ask a Spongebob movie to make a good plot, but I'm only asking as good as the first one. Then, you cared about the characters. Mindy was a one-time character, never before seen, never seen since, and yet you cared about her well-being in that movie, you saw her personality, Patrick's crush on her. You cared what happened to Bikini Bottom, not because some weird antagonist with no agenda other than -do evil- threatened destruction, but because an established antagonist who constantly failed at his goal had a master plan that succeeded and caused physically present damage, including enslaving the entire civilization. Not to mention an awesome soundtrack. This new movie had a decent legacy to measure up to.

I was kinda young when the first two CGI Scooby doo movies came out but as someone who is too old to watch cartoons now (As if I care) I loved the prequels. They were still kinda clumsy and stuff but I liked the background knowledge they supplied. I mean, in a show about an independent detective agency with one of the most quotable and memorable line being -And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids- they sure do avoid going into extensive detail about the gangs history together, so I think that they were pretty good if not overdue but not the 2002 and 2004 versions (Just to be clear)

Well, it's no secret that spongbob lost a lot of what made the show great after the first box office movie. Mainly due to spongebob's creator leaving due to being annoyed with Nickelodeon, and new, less than desirable writers joining the team. But, I've heard that spongebob's creator is returning, and season 9 of spongebob wasn't too bad. So I'm really not sure what to expect from this movie.

I loved Scooby Doo! I don't now why. It might have just been cuz I was a kid, and I haven't seen them in years. But I agree with EVERYTHING ELSE you said. But I'm hating this SpongeBob. So much. When they came to the real world in THE FIRST MOVIE, THAT EVERYONE LOVED, they still looked like themselves. This is unnecessary. Also, The Smurfs were okay, and Pete's Dragon is awful. That's all.

As long as it has its raunchy comedy in the movie and it stays true to each of the characters nature I think it could go well. But I'm still optimistic about the conflict between the pirate. In the last sponge bob movie they were only on land for not that long making most of the great journey in the sea. I'm wondering how this will go.

You know, the best way to do cgi characters mixing in with real life, is displayed right here. Kind of. Instead of just having an object, you should have an entire model. Something like what they did with the Death Note live action movies, and just look at those, they look great!

Eh, I might go see it. It looks honest enough to not be a half-arsed cash-grab by studio execs. I know this because the only celebrity in the trailer was Antonio Banderas, and they didn't even give him a name-drop. That speaks confidence to me.

AN Patton Oswalt left to go work on Half life 3, that's why he couldn't do Gary's voiceover. 20 years later, when Gary is the biggest entertainment symbol since The Simpsons, he thinks to himself privately -WHY DIDNT I VOICE THAT $-&% RABBIT-

Spongebob did this earlier with their first movie, except with traditional animation. Personally, I would like it better that way, but it is easier to animate with a 3D model, but nothing can beat the 'Hoff!

I'm not super optimistic about this new movie. Mostly because I feel like the series should have ended with the first movie. I'd be willing to check it out, but I'm not sure about seeing it in theaters.
