All sounds good and a pretty good review to be fair, the only point I would make is regarding audio. It does not sound too bad (this is the one thing that has always stopped me buying a GoPro) but I film out on the mountains and fells, where background wind noise is a killer, it looked like you filmed on almost a wind free days, so not fully tested the audio for me and this is what will stop me buying one. Thanks for the review, cheers Alan

-The Audio still sucks compared to the Sony and THAT is the game changer for me personally! the image stabilization is the nicest on the go pro and if they can just get the audio sounding better all of my other cameras can be sold off (except one DSLR and one camcorder) i have looked at the Sony hard but can't justify the price but if they fix their flaws before go pro does that's exactly where my money will be spent-

Ok so honestly I do not care about image stabilization. I do not want my image cropped and am going to be using a gimbol anyways. I am wondering what your opinions are with image quality. I do not know what Protune setting you have on if any but if we set the same settings up are these cameras practically the same? I have not seen a good comparison vid. to discuss this and I am very curious.

Nice engaging video with a pleasant presenter. But I don-t call this an honest review given the caption. There isn-t much comparison between this and the Sony. would be worth mentioning that Sony has a microphone input - which is important for those looking to use one of these cameras for the B-roll, or - attaching it to the windscreen - for in-car-vlogging-cams

GoPro finally caught up to sony in stabilization. I'm surprised the sony video you took was so bouncy, I have the as200v and its not that bouncy. I still like the form factor of the sony as it fits on the side of my helmet very neatly vs sticking up on top like a teletubby head (I don't use a gimbal or chestmount. Thank you for the VS review! great info

so much jello on that Sony!
the stabilisation vs gimbal? well, at least now you have the option. it has the same body as the 6 so will fit any gimbal you own so turn it off and use the gimbal for no cropping or if the gimbal is too much for a situation take advantage of the stabilisation. why complain?

-Man I really wish all my cameras would shoot vertical video. - Said no one. Ever.
GoPro: -Hey you know how cell phones have been filming vertical video for years and years and people hate it? Let's add that feature! Genius! -
Great strategy, GoPro.

Which one of these cameras (or others) would be best as a dash cam alternative for shooting high-quality scenic driving videos? Also, are vibration issues (jello, etc) an issue with stabilization or the mount? Thanks to whoever answers!

I am torn between this and the Sony x3000. Can you turn off the fish eye on the gopro or can that only be done in post? I'd be using either this or Sony for vlogs, reviews, and maybe some action moments.

Believe 1080p at 60fps is only a standard stabilization not a hypersmooth one. With hypersmooth you won't tell the difference between it and the gimbal.
