It-s funny that box jumps were initially brought in to increase the safety of practising jumps, landing pretty much as you land in a power stance but higher without falling back down a feet or two at least over multiple repetitions with all that goes with repeated high stress landings. Now box jumps looks nothing like exercises into how to potentially injure yourselves.

At the 5: 40 mark; It-s actually about the speed in which you go down aswell. In order to jump Higher your over all amplitude must be as explosive as possible. Meaning when you start at 0 Position and go down to -10 then push yourself up to +20. The faster you can do this the Higher you jump.

Way back year 2005 I was 15 and standing 5ft 1inches tall I believe that I have the highest vertical in the Philippines with the same height as mine. Because I can grab a 10ft rim. Now Im 31, still same height. Not as explosive as before. But its still there

in my conditioning class we use those jump plates. I'm 5'9 with a standing reach of about 7'8, and can get my hand around 4 inches above a basketball rim. yet it measures my vertical at 27 inches max. irritates the crap outta me

I'm 5'8- tall and can hit my head on an 8' ceiling by jumping (just barely. 96- - 68- = 28-. So my vertical is only 2 inches below the highest scores achieved on the Sparta plate (10: 14? I find that hard to believe.

It's interesting/impressive that Evan is going into a full squat position to perform these verticals. Most of the highest verticals on video that i have seen the athletes only go to about 1/3-1/4 squat.

It's like speed runs. Do em over and over and over and eventually your time gets lower and lower until your beating ocarina of time in 9 minutes
. eventually people will be able to jump planets no joke.

I think there's some term for what's good for the method. Stretch reflex I think. Which is often used in lifting weights. I believe that's the benefit of dipping down all the way before the jump.

i feel like the obvious was not talked about in the video, he is only crouching like half way down therefore he is storing much less potential energy in his legs.
