Ugh. 300 and 400 watts for an hour? That's really not that impressive at all, unless I'm missing something. My FTP is higher than 300 watts. Unless these people are super light? Also, who tf sets these dumb rules? Why can't you have data when you're trying to set the record? You're trying to go as fast as possible. If you can see your distance or time or power while doing it, and that helps you do more, then what's the issue?

-. and thrilling sprint of the tour the France. - Let's show neither a bunch sprint nor a thrilling finish but instead a second-place mini-sprint that has literally no suspens nor importance. You can see that the editor doesnt know anything about cycling after roughly 6 seconds.
Not to mention that for the hill they decided to show a struggling Mark Cavendish and not a GC battle.

This seem counter intuitive. I have done 14km in like 30 minutes in a flat area and I do not really live an active life and I am about 8 kilos more than what I should weight. I find it weird that proffesional cyclicsts cant basically do what I do 2x faster for 2x longer. I guess it gets exponentially harder after a while due to air drag etc.

I'm interested how an aero optimized bike would do in the hour run. Like one of these velomobiles, let's say a stock -Quest-. It is of course much heavier, but the aerodynamic drag is greatly reduced compared to an upright bicycle, so it might be interesting

By the way, it was the Velotron they used for testing. And as a prodly owner for a long time I can say this is superior to any so called wattbikes. I have personally met the founder and talked many times in sports expos and they have a truly good product.

For a scientific video I can-t believe weight wasn-t mentioned. watts per kilo is basically the only thing that matters. Look at every pro cyclist, their upper bodies are extremely thin, no muscle or fat mass at all. Powerful legs, light body.

I believe that if I have a Road Bike Worth 10, 000 Dollars I might be able to get 34. 8 km speed: D IF I HAVE THE MONEY. But getting that 40+ Speed for a regular aging guy like me is Nearly impossible.

Eddy Merckx on a bike older than today-s competitors and their equipment e. g. wind tunnel graphite etc. in Mexico City 2300m above sea level did 49. 431km. I-m not impressed with these riders.

I remember pushing 27 mph on a cheap $100 cruiser-mountain hybrid. It was a kent glendale. But my energy burst was only like 10 seconds. Only maintaining 27mph for like almost 10 seconds.
