Ice sculptor Shintaro Okamoto explains the art of sculpting ice in 10 levels of difficulty. The angelfish is one of the most historical designs in the ice sculpting community, so it's the perfect place to start. Shintaro explains how you can create an angelfish design in increasing levels of complexity, from using simple hand tools to CNC machining the piece. 3D ice printing footage courtesy of McGill University

Every one of those ice sculptures could have been made with hand tools only it would have simply taken longer & required a more skilled artist.

More like 3 levels. Wouldn-t consider different tools different levels. He does a great job but probably needs a better title for the video

Did he glue that big thing down or how was he able to just hack and saw away on the ice block without it crashing to the ground O. o?

Without the ice sculptures or knowing the purpose, imagine walking into this freezing room with huge hand saws and power tools.

Do you save the huge chunks of ice after you cut it away? Seems like a waste of water if you just let it melt after cutting it

These videos are always extremely interesting! Love seeing explanations of these arts and disciplines. Great video-

This is more like 10 steps of ice sculpting instead of levels. Because each result of one level is not a finished product.
