His comments about the walkman were so relatable. People don-t always know what they want (regarding new tech.
I was in my early 20s when the iPod was first released. -1000 songs in your pocket- I remember thinking -I don-t need that. - I was okay with the black zip up folder of CDs, 3 disc changing stereo, 20 second skip walkman, LimeWire, and a CD-RW to make custom mixes. LOL.
But Apple knew what I needed before I did.

This man is a national treasure. He manages to sound intelligent and humble. There is nothing Dyson produces that isn-t good, and they have shaped and created entire industries and pushed boundaries on stuff we use we very day now; batteries and electric brushless motors. Dyson know more about battery management and cells than most tech companies let alone EV producers.

BTW that Dyson air blade hand dryer in public toilets is useless and disgusting. Tiny little gap you shove your hands into, and a ridiculously strong gust blowing them against the inside surface, where everybody else has had their filthy hands. Exactly what you don't want to touch. I'd sooner just use my trousers.

Very good info here for innovators and such. However, I personally can't stand the type of pretentious products that people will fall for. There's a dyson vacuum for like 750 dollars in which -lasers reveal microscopic dust-. Well played i suppose, lol

I have a question for him. Why are all the guts and mechanisms of your vacuums plastic and why do they seemingly break all the time even though it's a three or $400 vacuum

Broad drifferent disciplines and blend them together was someting that Gropius with Bauhaus tried to do in 1919. It's sad that we couldn't manage to continue this idea.

I love that this man has a Harrier jump-jet on his table just for the sheer British joy of it. Then again, I suppose he considers it another marvel of engineering?

Regarding hand dryers, could you not use compressed air (compressor and tank could be out back or on the roof) and blow that through a heating element?

haha, i love the casual mention of the 20 year patent limit being too short. he knows they only have 7 years until everyone's making bladeless fans
