I was never good at math, but I loved English cause I loved stories. If I was to ask her a question it would be this. Is it true that doing math is like writing a story, but it just takes a different kind of logic or are they not really connected like that at all. I say this cause algebra and stuff being like abc=cba and x=36 (maybe not that exactly, but like algebra and calculus in general )confused me, but I love trying to follow stories that start with a normal day, but end with the characters in a space ship in another dimension eating pudding. Like is it something people say to comfort people bad at math, or is there truth to it?

As a math teacher, I HATE chalkboards because the chalk dries your cuticles and they split all the time. Give me whiteboards every time.
Now the thing that I will never understand that only seems to show up in movies and TB shows is writing math on clear vertical surfaces (Nash writing on his windows in A Beautiful Mind, for instance. That has never and will never make sense to me.
Also, I found her answer regarding pi to be needlessly complicated. She never actually explained what pi IS and talked about a bunch of stuff that the question asker probably couldn't have cares less about.

For 11: 57 I have something to add. The multiplication comes first when computing because this is the natural way. At a very low level of theory, what is multiplication? Repetitive addition, right? What does it mean 5 x 3 (5 times 3? It means 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3, right? So if you have 50 + 5x3, that means 50 + (3 + 3 + 3+ 3 + 3)= 50 + 15. Every arithmetical rule has a natural reason. Mathematics is not about a story of some strange guys who set rules and had nobobody around to argue against them.

I wish math was introduced to me in a way I would have appreciated. Growing up and reading about things on my own, I've realized that math is the language of the universe and nature, not just stiff rules in seemingly static lines with no way to apply abstract thought. Everything is math - the sounds of your favorite music, the brain chemistry behind love, the taste of delicious food, beautiful colors and how and why we see them, and even your own personality.

I loved math in my childhood but started hating it in my teenage And one of the biggest reasons was the teachers & Knowingly learn something that you know is worthless.
Now i started math again as a hobby and only learn things that are required for a spefic thing i want to archive and Math is just collection of puzzles and i love it.

Thank you for making math interesting! I have a love/hate with numbers outside of my career in accounting/bookkeeping thanks to grade school teachers just writing on a board and expecting us to copy and learn. Maybe if I had someone enthusiastic teaching mathematics, it wouldn't have seemed so difficult and boring. You're amazing!

I could literally listen to Professor Moon talk about math for the rest of my life and be beyond content. I'm a geologist, math (and especially Calculus) terrifies me but I KNOW its importance and have invested significant portions of my soul to understand it so that I can be a geologist that my field needs. #MoreOfMoon

12: 45 - Blockchain solves this. Create a math wiki, giving incentives for adding most elegant ways to achieve things, like reddit does. Give incentives for making such things into computer models. Open source everything, and let people earn royalties.

I found my way of math and one of them is a chalkboard lol idk why I just seem to be able to process things better with a chalkboard. My other method is actually talking my process over with someone it seems so much easier for me to do that.

There's nothing more disappointing than a dead marker, but nothing more gut-wrenching than a chalk squeak. I always feel like I'm walking on eggshells using chalk on anything but a sidewalk. (Not a math major anyhow, so to each their own)
