AI is beyond what anything Machine learning can do, it sets up expectations that could never be met. Calling it Chess AI I guess is better but chess software or a chess programme would be more accurate. Maybe even a new term like CB or CC for Chess Bot or Chess Computer, like Levy does use in the video, would be more accurate. It's the same as Tesla's Auto-pilot and the way it makes people think they don't have to drive the car and can just sit on there phone until they get to where they're going. Wrong branding and wrong terminology changes peoples expectations of what can be achieved with the product.

They used the one thing that I see good chess players do (sacrificing/trading queens to gain an advantageous position) as an example of a cheater but it was basically a guaranteed victory path that was honestly quite obvious to someone who doesn t play chess

I'm a chess noob, but it looks to me like Wired cut the recording of Levy's computer move analysis into random confusing bits and pieces for dramatic effect because they don't trust their viewers to concentrate and stay attentive for more than 20 seconds.

Yes, Stockfish and Leela use neural networks for position evaluation. This doesn't make it any less wrong to describe cheating as AI Assistance.

I would definitely sacrifice the queen of it was obvious that would lead to checkmate. I'm pretty sure a lot of good chess players would.
