Scientist and Immunologist Dr. Shruti Naik answers the internet's burning questions about our immune systems. Are viruses alive? Is chicken soup actually good for the immune system? What does the spleen even do? Is playing in dirt good for your child's health? Dr. Shruti answers all these questions and much more! Ryan: Lost total respect for you when you talked about natural remedies. Yes, many are bogus. But there are also several that have been proven. The reason for no data and peer reviews comes down to money. Big pharma has been repeatedly proven to pay for false studies or hide things that would make their medicines look bad and potential natural cures look good. Chiropractic care for example. Started out as a fake science. But recent studies by blue cross blue shield have shown significant impacts of proper chiropractic care. And I had many real doctors misdiagnose me or say I was lying, until a chiropractor figured out my migraines. I didn't believe him. I'm now 3 years without a single migraine. I had 5 a month minimum for 8 years. So long story short, you aren't very intelligent if you discredit things without admitting science and business lies all the time

I thought the whole reason why people tend to be given chicken soup when sick was just because the sick person lacks an appetite, so they are given a simple soup to ingest (they still need calories and fat to heal. It's not about curing sickness, but needing to eat something. Unrelated: when I had a medical procedure, I was not allowed to eat for at least 24 hours, but I was allowed Gatorade and small amounts of chicken broth.

My immune system was fine until I got the moderns vaccine. Since then I've had bad chest pains, pain in my left arm, tight shoulder muscles and my neck and head hurt almost every day. This all only started two weeks after the second dose. I've had ECG tests, which show my heart sporadically slipping a beat, blood tests, etc and my doctor says that I'm fine. Well I don't feel fine. We're all fukd. Lying bastards.

Natural remedies can be empirically tested medicines. They aren t mutually exclusive. Things like fruit for vitamin c deficiencies, medical marijuana for pain and perhaps with all the new psychiatric research around psychedelics, magic mushrooms for treatment resistant depression and ptsd.

I think with chicken soup, it s definitely a helpful thing but not a medicine. You get dehydrated when sick, so the water and salt in the soup helps with that. And it s a comfort thing. You re stressed when you re sick, so something comforting can relax you and make recovery easier

The chicken soup thing is interesting, because when I caught cold or flu, I had this sudden craving for any hot soup, be it Veggie soups or even instant noodle soups (which is the opposite of healthy lol. Maybe it's just the body wanting anything warm to enter the system, idk?

I ll never trust an immunologists words again, ever. Don t want it, not interested. These are the same people that silenced anyone who questioned the science and here we are years later, proven right and expected to move on like nothing happened

As much as i enjoy most of the people on these support videos, and she certainly does say a lot, she never really answers quite a few of the questions. She explains some of the question but at the end the answer is left unfulfilled.

12: 28 The fever strategy may no longer be necessary. Fever is still necessary because it does not just make the body inhospitable for infection, but it helps stimulate immune response. One example is the neutrophil recruitment to the site.

Q: Is it better to wait a week before giving the patient antibiotics (how they do it in Europe) or give them antibiotics right away the way they do it in USA and China?
When will humanity run out of antibiotics? 100/150/300 years?

i get the hygiene hypothesis but I also heard exposure to some microbes increases disease risk (example: ebv infection increases the risk of multiple sclerosis. or are these different things?

If we can help the Thymus gland and extend its life, we'll live longer imo.
In a Nutshell has an AWESOME book on the immune system. I highly suggest you check it out!

I remember reading somewhere that the bromide salts in chicken broth MAY help thin mucus secretions when you're sick, so that you can cough more productively?
Maybe?
