Im not gonna sit here and pretend that Bethesda games don't have problems and at times leave alot to be desired (that slack gets picked up by modding community. But I'm also not gonna sit here and pretend Bethesda games havent been a part of my life for the past 17 years. Despite the issues that their games face, theres a charm there that keeps bringing me back and I think a lot of people can agree with that sentiment. If you approach it without any expextactions, it's easy to get immersed in the ridiculous fun that can be had with the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games. Like I didnt touch Oblivion for the better part of a decade and here I am now in 2023, 40 hours deep on a new playthrough.

TES III Morrowind is probably my favourite game ever, i still come back to it regularly and its world and artwork has inspired me lots. Although i don't like the direction Bethesda has taken Fallout (even though i've probably spent over 1000 hours combined in F3 & F4) and i'm a bit disappointed that i probably won't see TES VI during the 21st century, you can't deny this guy's brought some of the most enjoyable open world RPGs onto the market.

I'm glad he mentioned Redguard. It wasn't a good game for many purely objective reasons (most of which Mr Howard is more than aware of, but without the lessons learned in art direction, syncretism, writing, atmosphere and a whole lot of world-building details, The Elder Scrolls would be that much poorer for it. Not to mention it influenced a lot of stylistic choices in Morrowind. And Morrowind was massive.

They will literally never be green lit for a nither game ever again unless they can prove its good so just take that in boys cause they have literally the most disgusting track record in all of gaming rn next to ea and cod conglomerates like ive said this a lot but i actually dont think theyll break even on they next game no one is gonna support them after this they still aint even had a patch

The games I've spent most of my time since I can track them have all originated in Bethesda Game Studios: Elder Scrolls Online (7500+ h, Oblivion (500+ h, Skyrim (400+ h, Morrowind (300+ h ) and now Starfield (200+ h. Love them all, can't wait for Elder Scrolls VI!
Original xbox didn't track played time (iirc, so can't tell, but probably add another 300 hours lol.

While I enjoyed my time with Starfield, by the end of my journey I couldn't help but feel the game was a little directionless and maybe a little too ambitious. Too many procedurally generated worlds that had little to offer. My hope with the next Elder Scrolls is they find a way to expand world size without losing the player's focus and interest

This was a fascinating watch for me. But I'd be lying if I wasn't sharking for info about Elder Scrolls 6. I mean, enjoy Starfield guys but, I have booked time out of my marriage for ES6. The funny thing is, my wife agreed since she can't see it happening in the next few years. Can we show her? Can we?

11: 12 nope - burned books have a value of 0 caps, cannot be used for crafting and weigh a pound. Even in New Vegas those books were usefull - they had a value above 0 caps and if you took a specific perk you could make skill boosting magazines out of them.

Would love to see a biography written about Todd Howard and/or Bethesda. I read Masters of Doom (about ID Software) and Jacked (about Rockstar Games) earlier this year and that kind of peak behind the curtain at the history of Bethesda would be fascinating.

After skyrim I went on to release skyrim. It was so successful that after a couple years I finally got to release skyrim. Then I went on to release skyim, and after a couple years skyrim was release, followed by skyrim and skyrim

He's a silver tongued salesman, a compulsive liar with big ideas and he tried to go for quantity over quality on Starfield but his retirement is close, we might not see him make Fallout 5 or whatever new IP they are making after TES6.

This is awesome, and I know that. at the end of the day they will polish Starfield, because it have a soul, you can feel it when you play the first 20 minutes, but yeah, it need to be polished and I know that they will do it

I can never pay Todd and Bethesda back for all the great hours I've spent playing their creations. All I can give, besides my money, is a sincere heart-felt thank you, and I look forward to enjoying your future games!

Say whatever you want about him and Starfield. This guy is also behind Oblivion and Fallout 3, two of my favorite games of all time. Just want to say thanks to him for the fond memories these games brought me.

He is the definition of success in a manager form, one thing I loved was that he said you should know every person's skills and how to use their skills, absolutely what I always tell my team

Scale of it dwarfs everything we've done so far
yeah that's probably the problem. Bethesda games are way better as smaller detailed and crafted worlds instead of massive empty maps.

Ah yes, the man who managed to turn Fallout into boring garbage. I'm impressed that real-live Todd's lips match the dialogue - was expecting awkward zoom at the start of every question.
reply

Thank you for everything, Todd.
Fallout 4 & Skyrim were super helpful during my TBI recovery, quieting the hypervigilance.
Starfield is amazing thus far. Well done.

reply

Starfield was a technical mess, and very subpar in other aspects compared to previous Bethesda titles. Comparing Skyrim to TES6 gonna be even more sad. Bethesda is gone.
