Jaina: -Glad you could make it, Councillors. -
Council of Six: -Watch your tone with us, girl. You may be Kirin Tor's new leader, but we're still your superiors as your elders. -
Jaina: -As if I could forget. Listen, Councillors, there's something about blood elves you should know. -
Jaina: -Oh no, we're too late. The blood elves have already spread across the city. They may look fine now, but it's only a matter of time before they betray us to the Horde. -
Council of Six: -What? -
Jaina: -The entire blood elves must be purged from this city! -
Council of Six: -How can you even consider that? There's got to be some other way! -
Jaina: -Damn it, Councillors! As your leader I order you to purge the blood elves! -
Council of Six: -You are not our better yet, girl! Nor would we obey that command even if you were! -
Jaina: -Then I must consider this as an act of treason. -
Council of Six: -TREASON? Have you lost your mind, Lady Proudmoore? -
Jaina: -Have I? Councillors, but my right as the leader of Kirin Tor, I hereby relieve you of your command and suspend your mages from service. -
Vereesa: -Jaina, you can't just! -
Jaina: -It's done! Those of you who have the will to save Dalaran, follow me! The rest of you, get out of my sight! -
Council of Six: -You've just crossed a terrible threshold, Lady Proudmoore. -
Jaina: -Vereesa. -
Vereesa: -Alright, Jaina. My Silver Covenant will help you do this. -

The whole Purge of Dalaran narrative is frustrating. The Blood Elves of Silvermoon were considering rejoining the Alliance because they were watching bigotry occur in the Horde, and Varian was trying to welcome them back. Then Jaina, the leader of a neutral city that was not a member of the Alliance at that time, makes a terrible decision and launches Dalaran into a civil war against one of the city's major political parties, the Sunreavers. Yes, it's understandable that Silvermoon chose to help the pro-Silvermoon Sunreavers, but why in the world is the Alliance held responsible for a neutral state's hasty aggression towards one of its political groups? The funny thing is, the purge had nothing to do with race; the Silver Covenant elves partook in it too. It wasn't humans verses elves, it was Dalaran attacking who it thought were insurrectionists. And yet, the conclusion was, -the Alliance is still bigoted against elves, so now they're definitely sticking with the Horde-.

No jaina lorewise didn't genocide the elves in Dalaran. Some lives where lost yes. Most of those that died resisted arrest. When you play the alliance side of the quest you give each group of belfs the chance to be arrested without violence. Most refuse and your forced to defend yourself.
Lore wise jaina was walking around ice blocking and sleeping people to teleport them into cells.
Consider what was happening. The sunreavers had once again betrayed the kirin tor and where transporting yet another nuke through dalaran to give to Garry.
Jaina had to act fast to maybe stop it. So she locked the city down and arrested everyone she could to interrogate later. Her actions well radical where the best move.
The belfs and sunreavers dug their own hole.

These are paraphrases of the events:
Jaina on Arthas, -There was nothing I could do. I did nothing wrong. -
Her father, -Yes you did. You looked the other way. - -Jaina throws a fit-
Jaina on Sunreaver, leader of Dalaran, -Look what you did to my city. -
Sunreaver, -There was nothing I could do. I did nothing wrong. -
Jaina, -Yes you did. You looked the other way. - -Jaina throws a fit-
All I intend to show, is that while her actions are like Arthas, her replies/wisdom is like her fathers. We are shaped by our influences. Thus the over complicated, under developed character of Jaina. She tends to be my least favorite, but she does have a messed up mental psyche.
She proceeded to execute WOW-s equivalent of Switzerland.

Jaina: -I've found a way to get Dalaran back to the Alliance, Your Majesty. -
Varian: -Get to the point, Jaina. -
Jaina: -Very well, Your Majesty. Vereesa, show the King. -
(Vereesa shows several corpses of Sunreaver Blood Elves)
Varian: -What you've done here, Jaina, is against the law of the Alliance. Disgusting. is the only word I have to describe it. -
Jaina: -But, Your Majesty, without purging the blood elves, my people in Dalaran would be betrayed. -
Varian: -Have you given any thought to what this means, Jaina? What's the difference between you and Garrosh now? -
Jaina: -Isn't it obvious, my King? I serve the Alliance. -
Varian: -Watch your clever mouth, witch! -

What is missed is what happened during Legion. Aethas was expelled from Dalaran cause he in fact let Garrosh move his forces through Dalaran. This is revealed in the Mage class campaign.
The corruption went all the way to the leadership of the Sunreavers themselves. Secondly Jaina only killed those who chose to fight. Garrosh cannot say the same, and Sylvanas after that in Battle for Azeroth. Not to mention a Sunreaver also betrayed her in Theramore as well.

This storyline was so bad, for so many reasons. The biggest of them being Varian's uncaring nature towards Jaina after this decision. They literally helped Garrosh try to murder his son, but selectively leave the detail out to build up bad drama. Literally all it would've took was 'You know that bell Garrosh dropped on your son? Yeah, they caused that. ' and the discussion would've been over. Varian would've helped.

Lor'Themar: yeah, let's use our connections in Dalaran to steal and smuggle some artifact from Alliance, what can go wrong now that Kirin-Tor chose an extremely racist towards Horde human mage as a leader AFTER previous one died helping protect her city that we nuked using another stolen artifact.
Jayna: Okay, it's purge then.
LT: DAMN THAT WITCH! How DARES she take revenge on us?

Jaina says that the whole bell affair was a betrayal and violation of the Kirin Tor's neutrality by the Sunreavers.
Yet somehow, in her eyes, her - a leader of Kirin Tor - actively helping keep the Divine Bell in Alliance possession was fine and dandy.

I have to agree with Lor-Themar there. Had the Alliance not acted like a--holes the first time they opened dialogue with the Blood Elves, then the Blood Elves would have been alliance by now and could have prevented a lot of problems for all factions.

what did the blood elf expect - they stole the artifact that was used to destroy Jaina's city. Horde's fav dialogue - oh only our War chief/leader burned you entire city and killed everyone we are all innocent. Entire Alliance cities burned count = 3.

Funny thing is if you did this back in the day you and Jaina hardly killed any of the elves, but as Jaina scales with each expansion she kills more of the elves due to dealing more dmg. But it was always funny to see the Blood Elves get upset over it.

Although Jaina exceeded the use of force, the Elves earned that expulsion from Dalaran.
At least she did not kill those who did not resist, even in her anger she had mercy, to compare this with Darnasuss is an exaggeration.

She never really did suffer the consequences of this, other than that one fight when you-re saving Jaina, Thrall and the rest. Sometimes I kinda feel like the writers were purposefully trying to sweep that whole phase under the rug.

Arthas killed Humans on his Free Will. He was possessed by Frostmourne (the Cursed Blade) when he killed the Blood Elves.
Jaina acted on her own Free Will when she murdered the Blood Elves. She was not possessed in any way.

Sure elves are the closest race in warcraft to wield magic, they feed on magic, they born from magic, they cannot live without magic. Jaina a human mage purges dalaran's elite elven mages alone. Seems legit.

Jaina was right, twice actually. Annihillating Ogrimmar and purging the Sunreavers were both very good ideas. I enjoyed chewing through those blood elves very much, thank you Jaina for the good memories!

That's why I chose the way of fighting for Sylvanas in BFA! This is fair only for Asmongold - to kill all the Horde without knowing who was this elf or whoever he killed from the Horde)

I hate how Blizzard downplayed the Jaina's downfall. They both killed their fathers, were blinded with revenge and commited genocide - it was her destiny to follow Arthas' steps.

And to think, the High Elves/Blood Elves were historically incredibly good allies of the Alliance, and the Alliance completely turned their backs on them, forcing them to go Horde.

As a blood elf, i'm gonna skip that. May her rot in hell. For Quel'Thalas and the Sin'dorei!
