Wow, they really just did Arthas THAT dirty? No one even talks to him, he doesnt even appear, fans still want him and love him, yet they gave SYLVANAS a forced redemption arc? Did they read a fanfic from tumblr or something? -
''Your legacy is at an end and you are forgotten'' - idiotic writing. Literally Uther and Sylvanas are standing there, he shattered the old Alliance, he destroyed Quel'Thalas and almost all the high/blood elves. Destroyed Lordaeron and ended a long line of kings, helped Ilidan aquire Guldans skull and become what he is, THEN LATER KILLED HIM (which they retconned, summoned the Legion on Azeroth then sabotaged the Legion in their invasion of Kalimdor. He is literally unforgetable and his actions STILL affect the present, his legacy will always be here, amazing character but no, Blizz does him dirty for some unknown reason and forces everyone to love Sylvanas and give her a redemption arc with some asspulled facts about her and her soul. -
They retconned so many things of the original lore in the last 8 years because they knew the crap they made up along the way would make even less sense than it does now.
When i think more about it, is it just me or is blizz tryhing so hard for people to stop loving Arthas and their old expansions and forcing players to love the new ones lol

From a gameplay perspective I loved Shadowlands, the raiding and dungeons were so fun. Did it have it's problems? Of course, definitely. Was it still worth it? In my opinion, yes. If we're being honest, the lore wasn't very good and zone designing wasn't too good with Zereth Mortis but you gotta admit that the story is at least better than BfA where they couldn't keep one straight storyline.
Jailer had his problems too and I would argue that N'Zoth was a better villain during BfA than the Jailer was throughout the entirety of Shadowlands. First, we were told basically nothing about him until Eternity's End (last major patch of Shadowlands) and it he didn't feel very present during the whole of it and I get that it's part of the ideal that we're basically just ants in comparison to a godlike being such as him. but even still his presence wasn't felt until after you raided Sanctum of Domination and saw the Maw surround Oribos every time you went there. On the other hand, N'Zoth's presence could be felt throughout the patch with just his ominous whispers trying to drive us to insanity.

I cant help it. Why is weirdly reskined Ana Amari my maw tour-guide?
Also. when it comes to Arthas. I think basic acceptence of his -deletion- is just off character. I mean, I get it, Jaina has moved on. but come on. Would you be able to just basically shoot a person who made up a major part of your life into the head?
Let us say, that your best friend is gravely hurt, the pain is unbelievable. Do you
A: say your goodbyes and instantly mercy kill him
or Do you
B: try anything. anything at all before he begs enough for you to see there is nothing to be done?
I think they didnt write a realistic end to it.

I loved SL. Idc what anyone says. The story was good, and we do not need to fully understand the jailer yet, is not like WOW is over, there are many more expansions to come and that lose end could be explained any min now. I played the whole thing prior to DF launch (first time ever playing. I love the characters and their stories and some moments even made me tear up a little, like when Palagos became the Arbiter, or when I helped the guy in Maldraxxus make the cure and how he was losing his mind because he couldn't save his wife. SL will always have a special place in my heart because it was my first every expansion.

Arthas could have made a good redemption and help kill the jailer or at least made amends and just had a good character and afterlife for this, being who the guy he always he wanted to be, they guy that would -pay any price- for his people just unfortunately controlled. It would have been nice to see his amends and such just being a cool good character, even if not that that I would have loved to see him and not just a fading spark. It-s sad.

Absolutely loved playing through shadowlands, and this video is a blessing. I was in desperate need of a refresher on everything that went down before i begin dragonflight. Still pretty peeved about how they sent off arthas though. As someone that played through warcraft 3 (Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne) i was expecting so much more.

I don't know if this is just me, but there appears to be a trend of division of power(not to be confused with separation of powers) in the warcraft universe.
This I first noticed with the Council of Three Hammers, but it is a continuing trend, with now the Desolate Council being the newest case. Very interesting.

Incredible series, and work. Much appreciated. I played Warcraft 3, beta WOW, and WOW original till c. Dec 2006. I miss those days. However, I struggle to keep up with the lore through it all. It seems to combine many real work ancient civilisations and concepts, especially Aztec, Greek, Egyptian, Roman, and Indian etc.

The fact that elunes power did not even scare or overpower sylvanas is pathetic. Tyrande should have put her in her place especially what she did to her people. The writers here really messed up and it-s obvious why people are pissed and leaving the game. To bring Aretha-s back and give him this ending is just lame

Thank you for putting this together. I haven't played in a long time but I do enjoy the story. I don't really get the Dragonflight expansion, I thought we would be getting the controller of the Jailer next. And I agree with the comments below, Arthas deserved so much more than that pathetic send off.

Honestly, this seems like it should've been WoW's last expansion. So many loose ends tied up, in a completely wrong way. Shadowlands started to make me feel like this was becoming GoT season 8, but I don't think it's that bad. Maybe I'm just extremely salty what they did to Arthas.

I see a lot of negative comments toward Sylvanas, but tbh she was the only interesting character in this entire plot. The rest was blunt as hell.
Also, the story was a bit too complicated, which is not a bad thing usually, but in this case it was.

I feel arthus was wasted. we see all these other character back and it was a blast in some way but not so with arthus. he was just a whisper and a forgotten note. could of head him be a big boss or turned into something worse than the litch king.
reply

I also want to add to the list of comments that say Thank you! I played shadowlands but always skipped the cinematics in a desperate race for that higher and faster ilvl. Lol. Many thanks for your time putting this together

I have not followed so much the lore post-WOTLK (when I stopped playing, but -Athelarius wouldn't you say that (besides the gameplay which you can like or not) the lore of Shadowland is pretty good? Looks pretty slick to me!

Why does Blizzard write idiots?
Both Arthas and Kel'thas were MC'd. Neither are at fault for any of it. Every character that doesn't understand this is as sub-sentient as an Orc.

I'm glad I didn't play through the expansion passed the first raid. After watching this to catch up, the storyline is an absolute -mess- and wasn't worth paying for!
reply

I just wanted to say thank you for doing these videos. I'm a very casual player and never get to see the storylines, I'm really happy when I see them put together, thank you
reply

thanks for the hard work of putting this all together.
I started playing wow a while ago especially for this storyline, but haven't manage to complete it yet.

reply

Ty for this! Dont play much WoW but I played this with a friend who was leaving so I got interested in the story. Glad I found this to see how it turned out!
reply

When Sylvanas comments on the dregs of Arthas's soul, it's like a rogue writer decided to tell the audience how badly the character was bastardized.
reply

ole Sylvy used to be the begin all, end all for me. I was on her side even through the whole bonfire incident. then i met Draka. Draka is THE ONE!

Someone please ask Blizzard - BlizzCon, why all - LITERALLY ALL - characters talk like a slowed down Christopher Walken in WoW-Cutscenes?
reply

Rreally nice vid. Enjoyed every second of this 3 hrs masterpiece. And it didn't even feel that long. That's how good it was ------
reply

why arthas is good now? why there's other guy as the lich king? sorry but the last game that i played was w3 frozen throne -
reply

You know i kinda wish they would make a movie on sylvanas from her turning to shadowlands, she nailed that line roasting bolvar
reply

Wow they really borked the ending there. I mean this is like Game of Thrones season 8 levels of writing here. Sad, very sad.
reply

I loved this expansion. Opinions differ, and I can respect that some people disliked it, but personally I enjoyed it immensely.
reply

They should've brought Arthas back. And I'm not talking as an Ember. I'm talking about Arthas as a soul. Like, Garrosh.
reply

(1: 25: 22) Fun fact: There's an alternate voice-line here if you stand to the side and choose not to fight Sylvanas.
