Velen Recruits Man'ari Ereder & Talks about Illidari & Death Knights - All Cutscenes [WoW 10. 1. 7]

Velen recruits Man-ari Eredar. World of Warcraft. 10. 1. 7 Fury Incarnate. All Dragonflight Cutscenes Theyre destroying every aspect of the lore, its unbelievable. Warlocks who serve the horde/alliance are already shunned because of their practices, even when theyre siding with the good guys. Death knights had a hard time being accepted into either faction because of the atrocities they committed, even when they were mind-controlled. Demon hunters were imprisoned because they were seen as traitors for using the fel, even though they used it against the Legion. Hell, even mages were forbidden in the night elf culture for a long time for fear of what they could do with magic. And then, now, in a single conversation, all that the manari did is forgiven. Demons who tortured and slaughtered countless lives. The manari are DEMONS. Demon hunters are not demons and, if you read -Illidan-, youll know that their tattoos are made so that they can resist the influence of the demon they absorb when they become demon hunters, and soak fel magic. It takes a tremendous effort to do that. Some of the elves who try to become demon hunters get mad and kill themselves, or lose control and must be put down. And now Blizzard is telling us that a DEMON ITSELF will be able to control itself to live with others with honor? Give me a f---ing break. The manari are pure fel and lose their minds the moment they accept the legions -gift-. Remember the red orcs in TBC? Its the same thing. They became mindless monsters. Who in their minds would allow literal demons to join their ranks, demons who have CONSCIOUSLY (different from DK) tortured and murdered countless innocents? Thats not poor, thats crap, lazy, disgusting writing.
In the Blizzard golden era theyd write the story well which would naturally lead to new races joining the alliance and horde. Think about the Draenei themselves and the Blood Elves. Now its the opposite: they crap on the story because they want to introduce a new race and dont know how, so they do whatever and then forcefully stick in the story. Well, you cant expect much after they made Arthas become a fart.
This is dumb writing at its peak. Think about the most hated and dangerous creatures in the universe. Id say demons and creatures of the void are some of the highest on the list. Theyre not dangerous just because of their immense power, theyre dangerous because there was no talk with them, their sole purpose has always been to destroy and corrupt every form of life. Period. It has been like that since the birth of the Twisting Nether. And then youre telling me now that all is forgiven and that we can trust literal demons because ONE of them showed regret (which could very well be fake?
Imagine aliens come down to Earth and they torture, enslave, and murder people for generations. And thats not because they didnt understand human race or anything, its because theyre inherently evil. Its their nature. Its not something that cant be changed. And then suddenly one of them comes to the world leaders and say -gee guys I screwed up sorry let us be part of your world-, and the world leaders would accept? And the people would be ok with it? Of course not.
Trees cant stop being plants. Its in their nature. Demons cant be good. Its their nature, it has always been like that for the entirety of Warcraft lore. As I mentioned, all who deal with the fel have to be extremely careful and strong-willed so that the fel doesnt consume them - and there has been a fair share of accidents. Sure, there are exceptions here and there, but very rare and few. Lothraxion, for example, had to be lightforged to abandon his nature. But thats not something done lightly, or likely to happen - hes really an exception to the rule. Hes the only known dreadlord that was brainwashed to join the Light (as far as I know, but even if hes not the only one, hes certainly one of very few ones.
Then manari feel guilty and just decide to change? F--- off. And why would Velen decide to side with them? He literally spent his life fleeing and fighting them. It took him a long time to trust Illidan who was actually on the right side, and now he blindly trusts a manari just because he returned something that was his?
I consider the Warcraft lore to have ended on Legion. A fit and good ending to it - Sargeras and the Legion are finally defeated and everybody can pack their stuff and go home. Every expansion after that was 99% shitting on the story. Id really be happy if they just announced WoW 2 and started it from the point Legion ended (I know its impossible, but.

well in a way Sargeras was right in his own twisted titan path to clensing the universe of corruption of the void he stray'd from the path and went on a mass genocide spree and honestly who can blame him i mean the corruption of the Old Gods on Azeroth was present and as he stated that if a slumbering Titan infused with the voids Corruption would mean the end of all of them he dident do it because he was mad he did it out of fear of another Slumbering titan (Azeroth) doesnt overthrow the original titans as for the Eredar. they needed powerful commanders for the legion because the demons. that were under his control were dumb as dirt so he saw potential in the Draenei and offered them power it made them blind to his deceptions in the final chapter of Kill'Jaden raid he expressed his disgust with Sargeras plan not coming to fruition and in a way allowed himself to be defeated to ultimately see Sargeras fail he said at the end if only i had you're vision. maybe things would have turned out diferently. but in a way he got his peace knowing Sargeras would be defeated. also see people in the comment section throwing words left and right like. this and that but they dont know the full lore about the Eredar (i mean the Alliance accepted blood elfs into they're fold as Void elves and you cant accept Eredar )

And there goes my hope of the Eredar joining the Horde as an allied race.
A people adrift and without purpose after their master's defeat. Seeking a place for themselves in the world, in the universe. Unable and/or unwilling to rejoin with their kin in the Alliance, after being separated from them for many millennia (even longer from their perspective.
Perhaps seeking allies of convenience for their own ends. And ultimately finding a place, even a home among the disparate, but united groups that make up the Horde.
Like others before them. Forsaken, and the Blood Elves. Even the Nightborne, who found camaraderie with the Blood Elves that was not offered by the Night Elves.
Velen may be willing to accept the defecting Eredar in their remorse. But would the rest of the Draenei be as welcoming?
Velen could have been the bridge that brought the Eredar to the Horde, like how Caelia and Derek were brought to the Forsaken. Along with the undead Night Elves, risen during BFA.
Oh ya, and the Broken we left behind on Argus. I'd almost forgotten about them after so long. They could have become an allied race for the Alliance.

This is such bad writing, eredar never should of been a thing for customisation. They hunted the Draenei for tens of thousands of years across the stars and destroying everything in their path and all of a sudden Velen is good with them now because one red boy basically says - I didn't have a choice bro, now I do and I want to be good - that shit is like a soldier saying - Oh, well, I didn't mean to commit war crimes I was ordered to! - the soldier is still held accountable for their actions and punished accordingly there was nothing stopping these eredar from running away when sent on missions it's not like all of them were chilling on Argus living their best lives.
reply

He didn't even recruited them. No official decree, no NPCs wandering around. Demons are still killable in public, there is just small group of these who wants to do better and have contact on Velen. So no -Alliance drama-. No demon have joined the Alliance. What gameplay allows wouldn't always pass in lore. This is just purely for flavour and Twitter upvotes.
Also while I like saying that they are irredeemable, Kl'jaeden could sense doubt in his underlings and eliminate them. So the questline is a bit crap.
Saying it as RPer who wants to RP this concept.
We might see more in heritage. Not sure if I want to.

reply

They really need to build on this. This isn't a case of just -here's some brown skin orcs from that timeline we went to- or -here's some demon hunters who were imprisoned but now stand with us against the legion-.
The man'ari were literal demons who stood with the legion for thousands of years, two of the legions leaders in the absence of sargeras were eredar, so they score high in terms of placement in the legions ranks.
You can't have something like death Knights being an issue joining the horde and alliance and yet gloss over this like it's nothing.

reply

Ok, now give us Felblood Blood Elves (Not San'Layn, they are distinct enough to be a New Race or Allied Race, Fel Orcs (Some are already in the Horde, Feltotem (Some of the Bloodtotem did not side with the Legion, maybe they could persuade them, Felbourne (If everyone else is getting their Fel Counterparts, might as well throw them in. While we are at it, throw in Dark Rangers, easily explained as Sylvanas yoinking some of the bodies of either side during BFA, And whoever else I might be forgetting.
reply

If I was gonna write this, I'd make it way simpler. All the old demon dudes are dead. No one to forgive. But over tens of thousands of years, there have been loads of new Eredar being born, right? Could have just had 'our' Eredar being the younger generation that was just born into it and didn't have trillions of lives on their hands. Instead of being 30k year old monsters lol. Btw, not just lives, but souls as well. The Legion doesn't just kill people, they use their souls as fuel afterwards lmao.

This entire expansion is such a pathetic monument of virtue signaling and wokeism. Then again people lost their minds when they found out what happened to Alexstrasza during the 1st war. Because apparently acceptable stories nowadays mean that it has to be all about happiness and friendship like in the children's cartoons since the modern audiences might get upset or offended if even the slightest hint of evil or realism gets slipped in.
reply

Again, wish they'd put it in the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Man'ari are allowed to walk free on a VERY short leash. What the Legion did and has done cannot be undone, and the consequences of that should not be tossed aside. Velen is trying to show mercy and compassion, but I'm sure he's worried he's being taken for a ride here. It wouldn't be the first time.
reply

Luckily for everyone the Lightforged Army is VERY accepting of other cultures and religious practices and wouldn't at all submit entire planets to genocidal cleansings. Nor do they have a long and bitter history of endless war against the agents of the Burning Legion who have now been granted sweeping amnesty by Velen after a five minute sales pitch. A+ writing /s
reply

These interactions feel so dumb. Hatuun, the guy who said to leave the planet while he bought time, accusing Velen of abandoning him and his planet.
And Velen left so many of his people behind that, only two choices remained for them. Turn to service or hide like Hatuun. When they did so, Velen bashes them for doing so while he was one of leaders.

reply

You might want to change this thumbnail as it's a bit misleading. . We got a set of eye colors, and 2 skin colors (red & darker red) for the existing Draenei. I just can't fathom how Blizzard would just skip on such a great customization idea other than they are wanting to refine it to bring it up to a certain level of quality.
reply

This makes me look more and more forward to the Draenei heritage armor.
I can see it now.
For the Draenei it would be confronting their past, and embracing their fallen to return to them to help build their future.
Meanwhile the Trolls must all come together to unite under a new Loa.

reply

IF they've taken the route to recruiting one of their most dangerous mortal enemies into the fold, why not let the fel orcs into the Horde as well? Fel orcs, who are well known for their bloodlust and demonic servitude. But hey, why the hell not, as long as both factions can get a demonic ally lol
reply

I feel like the dreani, man'ari, and kru'ni have a chance at mending some bad blood. But adding light forged to the mix is having the dramatic one to the family reunion.
They would have nothing but a supremist attitude and think everyone else is past redemption. -by holy fire be purged! -

reply

Such bad writing >. <
-I cannot undo my crimes but I will give all I have to try. -
Let me fix that:
-It's impossible for me to repent for my crimes. Instead, I'll do all that I can to atone for them. -
There, objectively better and carry the honest sentiment much more strongly.

reply

I feel like they are probably going to be the key for future events. The Legions while they are evil, but they are also probably the one with most knowledge about Void Lords. It is likely we will one way or another to work together in aim to prevent Void Lords to get whatever they want.
reply

Ah yes
For milennia, Arzaal fought for the legion, but now that the legion is defeated and the 2 biggest Eredar lords have fallen, now he sees the error in his ways. And the wise wise Velen accepts their aid after a 5 minute pep talk.

It-s very interesting to see how the choices and circumstances have effected all the different Eradar.
Those who embraced the Fel: Man-ari
Those who chose to Flee: Draenai
Those who became Fallen: Krokul
And those who kept Fighting: Lightforged

reply

This is terrible, why would any Man'ari have regret for what they have done?
Even if they truly did, why would we recruit them to the Alliance?
This is like if we skipped the Nuremberg Trials and said -oh its okay, its your leader's fault not yours-.

reply

This may be giving the writing too much credit, but I like to think that Velen was open to the idea of redeemable Man'ari because he was thinking about Rakeesh, and what he might have done had Rakeesh been the one to come and ask for a chance.
reply

Velen is such a great character. He fits very well into the narrative with death and decay and threats, with his kidness, forgiveness and wisdom as a hard counter, without being. ugh.
All who wanders, is not lost.

reply

They use the Illidari and Death Knights as examples, but even Arthas and the might of the Undead Scourge at it's peak, pales in comparison to the atrocities of the Burning Legion. This is some weak ass reasoning.
reply

I still think the Broken should of been the Allied Race Instead of Lightforged. While we now have Warlocks for every Race. Back in the day It would of been perfect for us to have Broken Warlocks and Rouges
reply

So orcs with a different skin hue, big humans and gnomes with prostethics are standalone races, but demons with tens of thousands years worth of Fel mutations are a cosmetic option for the draenei. Okay.
reply

Not only do I hate Sargeras because of his treachery, but I also hate it when he mentions the Void because it rings -Void Lords- and I hate the Void Lords just as I hate both Sargeras and the Old Gods.
reply

Damn. is it just me, or did that final voiced clip do the Draenei and their history dirty? I'd expected a much larger, better and more emotional rendition of the start of their exile.
reply

What players want: playable Broken or even Lost Ones harkening back to Warcraft 3.
What players get: here is one allied race that's got some bling, and here's a palette swap.

reply

What do the people think of this short quest line? It feels kinda crazy to be like -ok I believe you join us- but they are some ancient aliens beyond mere mortal understanding
