After 96 years locked in cryosleep vessels, a hundred volunteers finally wake up from their scientifically induced slumber Well, most of them wake up. And the results are not as expected. The project might have been a scientific success, but the lives of the volunteers are anything but fortunate. Grief, shock, mutations, illness, depression, violence, and the occasional miracle. The remaining volunteers will have to stick together if they want to stay alive

3: 05 - What. Never heard of such a person, who would gladly throw down their life for anyone they know of a Genetic relationship to them. Just a very odd and emersion breaking line. Really ripped me out the story, such a hard and unnatural virtue signal. Unbelievable, unrelatable.
3: 35 - I'm seeing a pattern develop
7: 40 - Good. To me, here, as the listener, that aspect is super important to me. This tale is beginning to annoy me.
8: 04 - Another excellent example of useless information. The author is just saying things for things sake and we're not even 10 mins in.
12: 59 - why would that moment ever be assumed to be one of Overwhelming joy!
14: 53 - Did they forget they were in Cry-Sleep, just here My god, this is badly conceived.
16: 21 - Much is explained, right here. Glad the author decided to include this line. Just a stones throw from the main character owning a Katana & Overcoat
18: 31- Wow, them novelties of the future eh Heating. Lighting. Phenomenal! Such imagination to present us with these notions of the _Future! _ And no sense of self-awareness at all. Fantastic.
20: 01 - Over half way. Nothing has happened since waking. There have been many, many words spoken but the story hasn't progressed by a step, so I know now, the conclusion will be disappointing (it was, very. This author has no story to tell, which is why even with it's length, they're already padding it like a teenagers bra. The only thing keeping me engaged at this point, is curiosity. I want to see how bad it gets.
26: 35 - Yawn.
27: 22 - She's been banging on about the Money constantly. Either the character is a sheety person, or the author is.
28: 27 - oh dear god, pathetic
29: 44 - Exciting!
30: 02 - eh, that's not what inexplicable means. she must have been. assaulted. There, I explained it. So, definitely not inexplicable.
32: 42 - That's a hell-of-a-lot of crying. And people crying don't normally band together to fight. Can't see through tears, ya know. They tend to be the ones scared and desperate for help. But no, this pile of wailing cryers are an army, cuz we are stronk or something.
This story has been _awful! _
33: 25 - There's that complaint about money again. Forgetting so quickly her own description of overwhelming joy at her 2nd chance at life. nah G, where mah MONEY!
_THAT was painfully bad and nothing but work, to listen to. A story was written. But we would have all been better for it being left never said. Barely coherent ramblings of a teenaged minded individual who lacks any original creativity. Also, she never got her money! I don't know if you picked that up. _
_2/10. _

Hell. it was NOT religious fanatics that had broken into & then sabotaged the project.
It was likely a small squad of mercs, that were hired to. by any & all means necessary, GAURANTEE the. contractural failure of the project, which would disqualify each & every single volunteer from receiving any of the agreed upon. fortunes which they had been promised.
Y'see, since the degree, type & severity of the side effects seemed to be very random, and even then, Nancys depression WAS bad enough, at least she didn't. spontaneously blow up, grow a 3rd arm or flippers or anything quite so dramatic, that. fortune she'd been promised. sure couldn't have hurt. Money. may NOT be able to. BUY happiness. BUT. at least you could. PICK your. misery.
Being relatively. mutation free, Nancy SHOULD have legally entitled to RECIEVE her full payment.
However. she had signed up for the Cryo Project, to be undertaken for a term of. one hundred years. Buuuut. it would appear that she ONLY slept for, what was it now. Oh yes. NINETY SIX years. So. Nancy, .due to you NOT having completed the full agreed upon term of 100 years, you will NOT eligible to be PAID. now then. Buh-bye.

This story seems to me like an allegory on the fate of refugees: The poor and destitute leave their families behind, hoping for a better future, go through an experience that can traumatize them, arrive in a foreign world where only some kind-hearted volunteers care for their fate, the majority of society only cares about their economic value, and when some of them break and do shitty things, they all get punished for it.
reply

The main character is stu pid and unrelatable. She voluntarily rejected her old life and then spends the entire story being depressed about it. Like, what did she think would happen when she wakes up
We attacked the guards because they saved us from our brother. And they used that as excuse to let us all go. - any government would use that excuse to keep them as far from the general population as possible. Or worse.

I’m not even sure how you ended up on my feed but I tried to go to sleep listened to it 29: 01 and obviously I have to finish now lol!
It reminded me of the last 7 months of my life, depression is will have you clinging to sleep as of there is a reality there worth living outside your own! What happens when the monsters are reality and don’t exist in our dreams
Great job!

Nothing really sci-fi about this story besides cryofreezing we've only got a couple years until that's real hopefully LOL but it was very touching I'm one of the Rejects Society doesn't have a place for me it's okay I still have friends and they are my family and of course I have you mom love you

This was so well-written, and extremely well-narrated! It's such a good story you can pick it apart for symbolism and such; the last part definitely sounds a bit like all the guys that came back from Vietnam. No one helped, no one cared, no support, etc

Recruiting gay people into an emergency Earth repopulation program seems a bit counter productive. (No pun intended) Getting your genes randomly scrambled by a mysterious force is a cool concept!

Great short story and narration. The detractors here are a strange juvenile bunch I really recommend you ignore. Write what you feel not what others demand of you to satisfy their peculiar preferences.

Incredible story concept. But what hard drive is the title talking about I listened to it twice in a row and do not hear single thing about any kind of hard drive. I'm confused.
reply

So chicken was certain to end so some went into space and some went into cryo sleep only to wake up 100 years later to a world that was the same as when you left it.
reply

Wow this was a GREAT story and PERFECT narration! I listen to a lot of stories everyday but this one and the narration has def left an impression on me.
reply

First time listening to a narration of yours, I really enjoyed it. Good job, nice voice great timing and emotions. Thanks, also thanks to the writer.

Imagine leaving earth because you thought the apocalypse was here and it turns out nah Nothing happened. Lol feels like how ppl talk about climate change
reply

This is absolutely heartbreaking, you guys killed it again I'm more and more convinced TDC that you guys are the very best out there
reply

Maybe tone down the piano music. My hearing isn't what it used to be, & whenever piano would crescendo, your voice disappeared.
reply

So does the horror ever start or is just gonna be a bunch of the character just experiencing emotions. this one was annoying
reply

Why are the titles dif one says we woke up 96 years cryosleep but video says we found a hard drive from the year 2091which is it
reply

Good story but the sound effects are really jarring and unnecessary and would be really awesome if they weren't there
reply

I agree 100% with BaldingClamydiathe Plot is Ingenuous and This was so well-written, and extremely well-narrated!
reply

All right, let’s get these devices working again go to sleep for another hundred years. See if things are better.
reply

Lovely story, the voices got it right, congratulations. The music totally added to the mood and story.
Thank you

reply

Cryo sleep would be terrifying. And the illustration has a horrible creepy vibe. Great job, great story. Thank you
reply

You know it's science fiction because the story relies on people eventually taking seriously the climate crisis.
reply

I don't tend to like stories done with female voices. You are an exception I'll check out your other videos: )
reply

This is kinda sad the character is feeling so bad and the description she gives and the chaos is terrifying
reply

Welp, I left my like and here's a comment and thanks for narrating this one. It's pretty darn good.
reply

FAR OUT!
P. S. I’m gonna need a list of stories narrated by voice-actor, Keira Rhodes, please!

reply

If this ever becomes true,
I'm automatically going to volunteer for this project no questions.

reply

I hate conventional horror movies but when you throw in a sci-fi aspect to it, i'm all over it.
reply

I'm sorry did this really happen Your accent lends automatic credibility to everything you say
reply

Sure it's hurried, sure it's experimental but it's perfectly safe! Sound familiar
reply

Wow! Great story. very sad though. all these mutations from cryosleep. touched my heart.
