This was the scariest book I’d ever read, back in the day. I couldn’t sleep, read through the night since so scared!
It’s less scary in the listening but then I’m older too!
I like the movie also. The cast is unforgettable - Fred Astaire (Ricky, John Houseman (Sears, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (Lewis, and I think Hume Cronyn as Jeffries. Alice Krige is mesmerizing as Alma Mobley.

This is the best ghost story I ever read and i am not young, have read hundreds. The narrator is excellent too--give it a try--and ignore the weird opening--it gets way better as you get into the tale. Its quite lengthy but I wish it never ended it is so great! Stephen King raves about this novel--that should tell ya something. It's unique.
TOP NOTCH! AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Well done! Most excellent choice. I grew up reading every thing from poe, to old grimoirs. No exaggerating, 60 years of consuming everything I could find, always loved this story. Grew up in that neck of the woods! Good story then, still stands up today. the movie didn't capture the sense of subtle building dread

A phenomenal genre novel! This, in my opinion, is Mr Straub’s best work! One of the cleverest, twist-turning and visually horrific ghost stories I have ever shivered while reading You will be captured by his strong and astute writing style and come away with the wasp’s sting burning in your memory.

Sorry,
4 hours and 39 minutes into trying to figure out just what the hec is going on while listening to the narrator's (and the actual story's) never-ending bable. and me thinking would they just get to the actual ghost story!
I give up!

I am delighted to see this made available! 'Ghost Story' has long been one of my favorite books, and Straub one of my favorite modern novelists. I'd love to hear his 'Blue Rose' trilogy uploaded someday. Thank you!

Always loved this story. I live near Stetson university where much of the 1981 movie was filmed (the college scenes. Alma Mobley brilliantly played by Alice Krieger.

I only found out quite recently that Peter Straub passed away last year. his literary legacy is a great one, and Ghost Story is arguably his greatest work

I read this book once a year, after winter sets in.
Salems Lot, Something Wicked This Way Comes, they come close, but Ghost Story is my favorite.

One of the greatest horror stories of all time. Thank you Ricky's voice sounds just like Fred Astaire! Great job.
