From Wikipedia: Brain Wave is a science fiction novel by American writer Poul Anderson, first published in serial form in Space Science Fiction in 1953, and then as a novel in 1954. Anderson had said that he could consider it one of his top five books. [1] This is one of many science fiction works written at this time on the theme of heightened intelligence.

God. Damn. Is this great! Poul's great!
Is it just me, or is the internet basically a sort of brainwave we're all still adapting to
Any chance of a reading of High Crusade That's another great Anderson story where an alien spaceship lands in front of a crusader army and tries to do a Hernan Cortez - and then intergalactic hijinks ensue.

The lame love story between dude and Sheila adds nothing to the story, and literally could have been left out. Also in chapter 20 I swear it all just comes off as rambling. The idea behind the story was great but Poul executed very poorly. I usually enjoy Poul Anderson but this story was just badly told.

This would fit in today except for the part of getting smarter if anything people are dumber to the point that they don't need to be dumb down anymore those who have started that agenda have achieve their goal don't forget to vote: )

Oh, I LOVE this one! This was one of those 'big idea/thought experiment' SFs like Galyoue and Aldiss and Sheckley gave us, Thanks, HB! (But I do wonder if we may have now entered a region of space that REDUCES intelligence)

For me this is really a good story and that hint of a new love for sheila is as the point of an eventual continuing, a needed point of reflection to many of us.

2: 21: 38 Considering the current events there, I'm curious as to whether this is accurate or viable.
reply

First! Lol thanks HB. I have this one in an old used paperback and never read it. Now I never will.
