Beautifully written, brimming with intelligence and heartfelt integrity. Good enough to be forgiving of the Catholic propaganda, the overt Eurocentric focus, the equating of suffering with only highly sentient species (and not animals, the idiosyncrasies of crass materialistic abundance in accordance with spiritual wisdom, the sentimentalised effulgence of true love as opposed to carnal desire, the uninspired biblical quotes, etc. Despite these critiques and my own general distaste for the heavenly overtures of godbotism, the Christian and mythical allegories were so skilfully woven into the captivating narrative that one cannot be aught but charitable, humbled even, by this prodigious work by such a talented, reflective author. I binged the hell out of this I freely admit! The present genocide of Gaza’s inhabitants being committed in the name of Zionism makes me yearn for some cosmic intervention but as usual I expect we humans must sort out our own atrocity exhibitions and horrific tendencies before the current batch of woefully inadequate humanity can conceivably attain a collective consciousness at anything approaching a higher state.
