could have had Windtakers, Boys From Co. C ( prequel to FMJ) Taking Chance ( Kevin Bacon, again looking squared away as a Marine Officer, Rules of Engagement ( was so prophetic of what was to come) and for us old farts from way back in the black and white days, have to include Sands of Iwo Jima and the Mother of All US Marine Corps bootcamp flicks. The DI. Jack Webb nailed it. Some Hollywood hot-shot needs to make a movie about Bella Wood. To all Jarheads, where ever you are. Stay Strong, Stay Gung-Ho SEMPER FI

#1 FMJ. #2 Heartbreak Ridge. Yeah, I know, not very realistic, but even though it is clearly California, it was supposed to be set at LeJeune and in the early eighties--my time and place in the Corps. Plus, you know, Clint Eastwood. #3 The Boys in Company C. #4 Flags of Our Fathers. #5 55 Days in Peking. You could argue the last was not a Marine movie, but you'd be wrong (heck it even has Royal Marines)--plus Charleton Heston.

as a marine I always thought full metal jacket was quite accurate for the time period. The Movie with Damon wayans looked good. Enjoyed Jarhead but I thought some things stood out like a thorn in my foot. I know LanceCorporals back in the day that would have tried to challenge Jamie fox on those nasty ass jelly roll sleeves. Especially in a combat zone -

Those are my favorite and resonate with me most! Spent 8 years in the Corps after joining in 2008 and loved most of it!

Truth be told, the Paris Island portion of Full Metal Jacket was freakin Outstanding! The rest of it was just ok. No better or worse then any other Vietnam movie.
