Hollywood Assistants Play Never Have I Ever

I had to get my boss a LaCroix, at certain hours of the day, but they didn't tell me when they needed the LaCroix. SimsMonkey: I was a production assistant. A month before we wrapped the shoot, I had a panic attack in my car at the end of a 14 hour day. The director told me the ADs and the DP said they never wanted to hire me again. They had asked me to do something I was uncomfortable with, so I said no. At the time, I didn't think it was a big deal and they didn't act like it was either. Apparently it was. I remember thinking it was super unfair because I'd been trying SO hard to be a good assistant, and I never said no to them before. I wasn't in a good place with my health at that point, either. I lost 20 pounds in two months working on that set. My parents kept telling me to quit because I would come home crying at the end of 90% of my days. I'd also wake up in the middle of the night with awful leg cramps from running around all day. I had no idea how to take care of myself. It was my first time being a PA. I finally quit a few weeks before they wrapped. My mental and physical health were falling apart. It was a super hard job to leave. I still don't know if it was a good career move. But honestly, with what I know now, I should have quit sooner. I got paid half as much as all the other PAs because I was also partly an intern (never let them do that to you. But none of the paperwork was ever completed on their end, so it didn't even count toward college credit. I'm so happy I got to work on a set, but it crushed me. All I ever wanted was to work in film, but that experience left me totally lost. I had no idea if it was even a career I wanted anymore.

Ya, these guys are amateurs. Before taking in a job on ANY production make sure you research the job. Well, at least these guys are. Good luck to getting funding to anything. Learn to screw Hollywood over not Hollywood screw you. Obviously, they allowed Hollywood to screw them. Those DGA people. they ask for their misery. Wait, theyre probably not even registered under DGA, so doubly screwed. O well.
And lady getting drunk, get help for your drinking problem.

This is SO relatable. I used to be an assistant. Not Hollywood level but high level corporate. I have done all of these things - except the illegal and being told I was doing a bad job. Im now on a semi-permanent hiatus from life because I worked for the gay male version of Miranda Priestly. Please do not let this job ruin your physical, emotional or mental health! I am still paying for it.

this is bs. no employer is good if they call you when you are not at the office. at my place, once i step out of the building, im not approached until an hour into work next day. if i take a vacation, i don't get any calls.

Wow. thats how Americans pronounce lacroix? Like. lacroy? It means the cross but you can pronounce is lac-raw. its closer to how its pronounced in French. but with an English accent

Okay I wanna know how it works. Is there are time clock? Do they get hired/paid through an agency? It is it directly from the person theyre assisting to them?

I have the worst anxiety because of my boss but I live in a small town where it's really hard to find a job and I really need the money so I can't leave
