If you could go to college anywhere in the world, where would it be? Danae: 7: 25 that's not terrible
well yeah, it's terrible. a lot of students (if not everyone) need state credits and when they graduate they are indebted. and to get a scholarship you have to be living under a bridge (that level of poorness) so a lot of students lie about it, they do all the necessary paperwork to get a freaking credit or scholarship, they say they live alone, they are orphans, they live with 3 families in one household, etc. a lot of people don't go to college because they don't have money and it's sad
pd: actually, the real average in Chile is 6000 usd, because the cheapest costs 3050 usd and the most expensive one is about 8500 usd and it's just one university and it's for the rich ones, so average people afford the average ones and with credits and scholarship, if not they don't study: (
pd2: the real public colleges costs 6000 usd. they considered the privates ones in this video, and those are the one I explained (public and private, universities in general)

As someone who will go to college soon, I don't necessarily think that college needs to be free, just more affordable. There should be a MAXIMUM of 3000 per year tuition and interest rates should be very low. The government should subsidize the rest of the costs while regulating total costs per student as well. Useless degrees should either be eliminated or not subsidized at-all. Courses irrelevant to your major should not be required. 21000 is just too much for a single year.

So Sweden seems as though it may be just one example of there being a low university cost, but a high cost of living.
In-state tuition stateside is comparable to some of these numbers. Is it ever cheaper to rent an apartment in a particular state, become a legal resident there, and pay in-state tuition rather than pay out-of-state tuition while maintaining residency of the state one left?

Everyone celebrating in the comments about free education but where are your versions of Google, Microsoft, FB, Salesforce, Apple, Netflix, Paypal, Amazon, Intel, Adobe, Nvidia, Moderna, Gilead, etc. You have free education but no one strives to start new companies in your Communist utopia's. America does all the heavy lifting when it comes to innovation and creativity for the world.

Most Americans believe they're getting a good deal when they look at the amount of money they spend on tax (about 30-35%) compared to, say, Europe ( about 40-50%. but that extra tax in Europe includes education, healthcare and a bunch of other things that Americans still pay for but as 'out of pocket' expenses rather than included in their tax.

In the United Arab Emirates, if you are a local public education is for free, from kindergarten all the way to university. Also locals, get free scholarships to other universities. If a UAE local wants to study abroad they can apply for a scholarship to universities abroad.

For them 7600usd is not terrible, the problem is that in Chile the minimum wage is about 450usd and most the of families can barely make 2000-2500 a month. So imagine having 2 kids going to college
reply

Its because American college gives better education. Also the government started giving out college loans so the colleges jacked up the prices.

Americans: people who left Europe partly because of unfair feodality. Then, created their own unfair feodality that is today worse than in Europe.

Indonesian public college is around 409 - 2010, sounds cheap but in our currency it is expensive. Even eating for 2 dollar is expensive here
