What's really toxic is people who are ungrateful. If no one said or did a thing for your family you would call it toxic as well. I suppose you're screwed if you do and screwed if you don't. Anyone who stands up against hate and bigotry is a hero. All the ordinary people who do it, whether Caucasian or any other background are heroes and deserve the benefit of being called a hero because they are facing a certain danger and are exposing injustice. It is necessary to be thankful to those who are brave enough to call it out because it adds energy to the good effect of all human beings.

I get that it should be normal to stand up to these kind of people and that people calling the waitress a hero shouldnt be happening. But I dont think its easy to stand up like she did to these type of people and that she should be recognized for what she did.

Im black and Filipino. I get racism from both sides. And its crazy that I tolerate it because thats how I was brought up. Almost saying some racist things myself because of what was shown and taught to me. But I aim to be woke. So should everyone else.

I feel like there's also a lot of racism towards Asians that isn't as obvious, if it makes sense? It's those snide remarks that get to me the most because when you call them out you're being 'too sensitive and can't take a joke'.
