Not that interesting to me. Very quickly I could tell he was dead. This is an old story, just happened to be played out on the ISS - You are dead, but you don't know it.
How many times was it done on the Twilight Zone, the movie 'Ghost', etc. No twist here, nothing new.
So this film didn't show courage in the face of death, nor was the reveal at the end particularly clever or artistic - standard ending, the dead guy sees his dead body and realizes he is dead.
Lots of time spent putting the animation together, but too little time putting together a creative, interesting and clever story that had conflict, showed an aspect of humanity that we needed to be reminded of, no elevation of the human spirit or intellect. no emotional triggers. It failed to provide an emotional trigger for
being alone or for dying alone. No buildup, no roller coaster ride; some mystery; good audio. Relatively flat experience in watching it.
Little to no emotional draw, no emotional take away or question to ponder. I don't see astronauts panicking in space - in this case, it shows a man who is not courageous, who'd doesn't know how to solve a problem. so no reason to empathize with him, no reason to cheer him on, he is not on any path of any kind for the viewer to follow him on. He doesn't show us much about humanity, or what to strive for in being human - just the opposite.
Weak comment on life after death. A stranger who we don't know is going to meet us. Not Grandpa, no friends or family who passed before us. Some complete
stranger with a 'death' birthday cake. No reconciliation of past wrong doings, no reason to address regrets. This doesn't do much for me, doesn't spark my imagination or instill thoughtfulness on the topic.
It was funny, I laughed when the cake hit his face. Shouldn't it have been a cream pie - ie. the proverbial pie in the face. The cake man was more interesting than the protagonist, that actor had more to work with, it was better role, and the shots of his face were better. The astronaut didn't have much of a role to play, not much to work with.
I don't mind when a film starts at the end and works backward. This film started at the end (at or after the explosion) but didn't take us very far after that - only to death, but nothing more.
This is the biggest missed opportunity - the venue is the infinite universe, the never ending expanse of the heavens. Yet, the whole film is in the small confines of the space station. The last shot should have been a pan out to the vastness of space and the universe around them, indicating that death is nothing, that the confined area in the ISS where he was living his life, the small cubical of life support is actually miniscule compared to the vastness of the heavens and the journey he is about to take.

. I truly enjoyed this. Very well done.
One small thing however, the music at the very end is absolutely Horrendous, not only is just too darn loud but it's a raucous and annoying contrast-swing from the content of the video at that point. Which rather spoiled the feeling the rest of the video had given me up to then.

Let's see, I remember a relatively recent movie about a crash aboard the ISS where the protagonist hallucinated afterwards. What was that called Oh that's right! Gravity. Starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.
What a transparent ripoff! For Christ's sake GET AN ORIGINAL IDEA!

I thought 2 astronauts had collided. One from Earth and one alien to us. I imagined the alien was making first contact and chose a strange cake-wielding human-form to do it. Took a while to click that it was Death.
Loved everything about the film. Nailed it!

Absolutely perfect balance of humour and suspense! The guy from the welcoming committee is never threatening; just odd, and it makes the ending that much more satisfying when you realise what he really was.

no surprises in the story but very nicely executed, great contrast between the serious desperation of the protagonist and the comical unsentimentality of his 'transitioner'.

Saw this one a while back. it is definitely one of the better ones I have seen. I would rate this one as definitely a top 20. and I've watched 100's of these things
