Evolution of Video Game Graphics from 1958 to 2020 Nice video. I play my first video game in 1983, until now i continue play and i wish i will not stop until the end. I lived the transformation of video games and was a revelation after 1999. Also the video games consoles (playstation-xbox-sega-nitento) have change the industry forever. From atari console to amiga to ibm to custom PC to playstation and back to custom PC i spend all my money
as a child and a lot as an adult in finding the best videogame machine. PONG was the first game.

Too much focus on visuals, not enough on gameplay. Many of the games shown here actually sucks to play and aren't representative of their era.
The retrospective would be more interesting in focusing in the actual best game of each year (for instance Super Mario Bros, Minecraft, GTA 5 and alike.

Wow, this is amazing. In my teens, I was building computers, mostly through trial and error. So that I could play these games. Though, I'm kind of sad I never went to any arcades before, but than again I saved my money for computer parts.

The funny thing is I grew up in Socialist country and every games related stuff was very expensive so we were playing 90s games in the early 2000 because it was cheaper. It was shitty and good days in the same time-

No way they didnt put gta san andreas for 2006, gta 5 for 2013, skyrim for 2011 and witcher 3 for 2015 also rdr 2 for 2018, i mean these games dominated the year they came out and even after
reply

Honestly the crysis 3 graphics from 2013 look like any other aaa game today. Probably because that was the point when some games started to look basicly as realistic as possible

I remember playing Strike Commander on my first PC in the early 90s. The graphics were great at the time (gouraud shading) but it took up the whole of my 40MB hard drive!
reply

I-m old enough that I saw these changes in real time and I still can-t believe it. The gulf between Pong and, say, Elden Ring or Starfield is mind boggling to contemplate.
reply

Crysis might have been unique in video game history. It took nearly 5 years and a new console generation before graphics, from a technical standpoint, surpassed it: )

I was born in 1950 and played Tennis for Two in 1965. Since then I play video games every night. I'm 73 years old now. It is so amazing how far we come.
