Nah, nowadays I'm still saying wow.
Stepping out of the Imperial Sewers and just looking around me. Wow.
Stepping out of Vault 101, letting the music hit me, the eyes adjust, see DC in the distance. Wow.
(I'd put NV here but then people may point out that Obsidian made that so....... WOW)
Coming out of those caves and seeing the mountains around you. Wow.
Rising up from Vault 111 and, again, letting the lighting adjust to see an even bigger world. Wow.
Exiting Vault 76 and my game crashing because of t-bagging players. Wow.

The biggest reason for Skyrim-s success is an even split between Fallout 3 and PS3. Having the title release on all 3 major gaming platforms boosted its visibility for a lot of people. Likewise, FO3 introduced a huge new group of FPS/shooter gamers to Bethesda. The same thing happened with FO4. Skyrim-s success boosted FO4 hype to probably unrealistic expectations in all honesty. Not saying it couldn-t have been a better game, but I don-t believe it was ever going to live up to the hype

There are two things about this game that make me absolutely love it and one of them is that it lets you be who you want to be, and the other is the amount of detail that is crammed into this game. From the books you can find and read explaining the in-game world to collecting ore and refining it to make armor, its a rad experience that never gets old. The only thing I could complain about is the limited housing and marriage options but hey, that's a small complaint if at all.

Why is Skyrim a big deal? Because it-s a fantasy power trip where you can be a warrior, archer, or mage (or a warrior archer mage !) that is set in a medieval type setting. People have this fascination with games set back in the ole medieval days because things were simpler back then. If you wanted to explore, there was still world to explore. Where the hell can you explore nowadays without pulling up a google maps virtual tour? North Korea does not count.

The first time I ever played Skyrim I remember being so intimidated by the sheer size of the world that I gave up 10 mins in and started killing everyone in Riverwood lmao
Flash forward 2,000 hours of gameplay later and I went from PS4 vanilla Skyrim to heavily modded PC Skyrim and it hasn-t failed to entertain me yet.
That-s ridiculously impressive.

It was the first game other than FPS or sports games where I put literally months in to it and never got bored. No wonder my girlfriend at the time left me lol. But seriously, everything down to Soule's music was just....nostalgic. The game felt like a place you'd always known, even though it was your first time exploring it.
