Oddly enough, 3rd Birthday came to mind the other day when I was skimming through my PE OST. Man, that was a cluster of a game.
To add insult to injury, it was also released as a PSP exclusive (2010) during the PSP's twilight years (PSP came out in 2005. This was around the time the PSP seemed like it was used as a test-bed (and/or dumping ground) for JPN game publishers: release a game and see how it did. If it did poorly, scrap further plans for the franchise. If it did well, either release a real game on a home console, or update the PSP version with new (or originally planned) content in addition to the original content (adapted as necessary) and re-release it as a new game.
Actually, that whole era during the early-/mid-10's was like that with whole JPN industry. Square Enix did it with Dissidia (PSP, Namco did with SAO: IM & SAO: HF (PSP/VITA, and Koei with Attack On Titan.
Maybe make a video on games publishers suckered the fans into buying twice. (Paying to Beta Test/Screen)

13: 00 a castlevania Remake should take place in an interconnected setting. I’d like it to look like that unfinished Capcom game, Deep Down. I want the combat to be weighty, but not Souls-like. It should play like the RE Remakes in that way; where combat encounters are slow and dangerous and where you slowly delve further into the environment and unpeel the layers to the castle. The castle should be huge, and feature several distinct areas that again, are all interconnected and easily maneuverable through shortcuts that get discovered over time. Populate the castle with interesting NPC and really cool enemy designs with a focus on quality of enemy encounters. Obviously this a big departure from the other Castlevania games, but I think that’s what a remake should be. I think focusing on the interconnected world, monsters, a Gothic-Baroque world design, and exploration based gameplay would capture the essence of castlevania.

The thing with devil may cry is just so strange
Did these people really think I see devil may cry like it's batman and robin Did they really think that I see devil may cry as a bad punk rock band
I always wondered who these people are asking their opinion.
They definitely never asked me and I don't know anyone who they did
I didn't even knew this thing there existed (this event where they showed these memes. This is literally the very first time I see this!
That just makes me so much more disgusted dmc can go cry with the devil
Am not interested in this anymore
And I own all the first 3! Original AND platinum version!
Well done disgusting a long time fan. I'm out! Got better stuff in life anyways and if they so obviously don't want me as a fan and client, then so be it

last what 12 years almost to lesser or greater extent a good amount of entertainment companies have tried to replace their fans with groups that pretty much don't exist and/or don't play games or consume whatever they make only real interest tehy have is destroying stuff others enjoy probably the type of people behind the character stereotype of the school bully targeting nerds gamers etc just grown up and instead of getting over that they got worse such as getting into companies it seems just to destroy them just so they can bully people on a massive scale or some other crazy reasoning like that like really it seems to me with many of them its like some karen went up and demanded to meet their manager they were allowed and then they bullied the manager into obeying them or something

While my thought process here is mildly reductive, I cannot stand this near constant refrain of this game wasn't what I wanted it to be so it's shit. Everyone seems so set on putting there hopes and wants onto a property and the moment that isn't fulfilled it's all just garbage to them. Sometimes you just don't like something and it isn't much deeper than that, other times you may love something that a lot of others seem to dislike for one reason or another. Focus on the cool stuff you like and lift those up (except Redfall, that was genuinely just badly executed for a lot of reasons almost all of which fall on Microsoft and ZeniMax)
reply

Redfall isnt a bad game. Also arkane was being shutdown prior to the games release. It was going to be their last game from the studio. Redfall wasn't a nail in the coffee it was the last shred of life leaving.
But the game is good. its just. Lacking in content. Which makes sense considering they never planned dlcs and knew it was their last game. Ppl were just super mad because it was an always online game and thats it. It has offline now for obvious reasons but u can still play online.
Yall just get excessively butthurt over buzz words.

I never played the Arkham games but Playstation has Arkham Knights on PS plus so I tried it the other day and I did not like it. I mainly hated the combat. Every other button presses causes some slow motion hit or finisher and it was horribly frustrating. Looked for a way to turn it off but dont think you can so I quit after 3 hours or so. I'm sure they're fine games otherwise but I just couldn't stand it. If everything gets an epic moment than no moments are epic. They're just repetitive and slowing down the momentum

IMO BF5 was the beginning of the series downfall. Not saying the game was entirely bad but does anybody remember when the director for that game basically spat in the faces of the fans of the series And said if we don’t like then don’t buy it lol. Then promptly left just soon after the release of the game after poor sales. Again wasn’t a bad game, I go back to it from time to time but it’s not my favorite in the series. 2042 really solidifies the weakest spot in the series putting BF5 on a pedestal

I actually enjoyed Castlevania, DA2, DMC, RE6 and 3rd Birthday.
Although DA2 had development cycle of 1 year so there is a reason why it came out like that.
DMC for its gameplay since I am a sucker for hack n slash games of any kind. Everything else is shit, which is why I didn't even support it even if I enjoyed the gameplay.
Castlevania was okay, the 2 games where okay-ish, not great but good enough.
RE6 was just mindless fun and 3rd Birthday was 3rd Birthday for a young teen like me lmao.

They have been trying to make a 3D Castlevania since the 90's, with their first attempt on the N64, and 2nd/3rd attempt on the PS2(xbox) - and we don't talk about the Sega Dreamcast attempt. I think developers will always have a hard time trying to translate it from it's 2D heritage, with such a high bar to reach and all the fan nostalgia from the 2D era. I think only a creative, and talented developer, still has a chance to overcome these obstacles to truly bring out a good 3d Castlevania.

Dante intentionally insulting his own game franchise by making himself the opposite of himself as a rebellion to the establishmed source material and directly insulting himself and the original source material with zero F's given is the most Dante thing I can think of. And the gameplay was solid, the same no, but pretty solid. I feel like the true short comings of DMC is the story, very cheesy in a bad way and almost no substance or characters to care about at all.

I think Dragon Age Veilguard took things way further from the series than 2. Of course it was different (it's always) but DA2 still had the gameplay party-focused, tactics, they added the auto-attack with a patch, you still had some meaningful choices, some darkish stuff, etc. I'm not a huge fan but I was able to play it at least. Each game was taking a step away from the original but my feeling is that DATV just teleported lightyears away from it.

Been playing battlefield since battlefield 2 days and 2142. I've always had time for this franchise but, 2042 was a monumental let down. No personality, sub par gameplay, awful maps and a serious lack of map destruction. Along with everything else I could list, I am so so excited for what's to come in the future and I hope they've learned their lesson. We can't let one bad game, ruin a whole franchise. I remain hopeful

I’ll dunk on BF2042 as much as the next guy, but bringing up Battlebit Remastered aged like milk. It started out fantastic with them eating DICE’s lunch while shoving them in a locker. But as of now There hasn’t been any update for the game in over a year(14 months per Steam itself) on top of changes to the game that you guessed it, pushed out the audience it had gathered, barely able to fill a few servers.

I love the new Fallout games- even having been a fan of the originals (and played them in their era and replayed them since. I will note, however, the old ones had MUCH tighter storylines and world history details that later ones lack sometimes. Still, the new ones are generally really good in most respects and the reimagining the series in that format was done very well- surprisingly well actually.
reply

As a long time Dragonage fan, I don't get the DA2 hate. DA2 did keep most of the politics and character development stuff. Veilguard was waaaaay worse because it didn't have any of that and then tried to court the modern audience instead of DA fans. And all that got was a vague mention at the end where you noted Inquisition was decent and then they didn't carry that momentum forward That's wild.

Parasite Eve 1 = Eve's final form was kinda pervy.
parasite eve 2 = Aya shower scene pervy
It can be pervy as long as it is a good game, that is fun. 3rd birthday was pervy, but it wasn't fun, and it wasn't a good game. And they killed off the Real Aya Brea, and made the players do it. REALLY BAD MOVE! Parasite eve isn't Gears of War, and it should never be, Because it is a horror RPG.

RE6 = We hate it because it removed puzzles and backtracking. Also, we hate it because everyone else does, even though we are not real fans and have no idea that RE6 did nothing different from previous series entries.
RE Village = We love this game, which has werewolves, vampires, and people with superpowers who can control metal and make mechas!
Y'all people are sad.

Dragon age 2 was a a massive blunder. It’s generally not a bad game until you start hearing repeated voice lines and realize all the rooms are reused 14 times. I’ll be an apologist for lords of shadow though, it might be a god of war rip off and it might be far away from other castlevania games, but it was damn enjoyable. The sequel was an unmitigated train wreck still.
reply

Soo, Dragon Age 2 is on here, but not Veilguard Why the title is 10 games that tried to Replace their Fans That's EXACTLY wat Veilguard Did!
It's almost like they Sidestepped Veilguard completely, Carefully Avoiding it, but They Felt like using Veilguard Gameplay
Btw, AC Shadows, Would probably go on this list too later on, For almost the same Reasons
